seen this on the launcher, are these made of metal or plastic because if they are made from plastic where on earth did they get the price from?

Wow.
Here the same model makers (SMTS) are selling a kit of the model for half the price. Their replicas are made of metal, resin, rubber, and photo-etched steel, depending on which material is best for the individual part. From the company's website, they sound like some serious high-precision replica making nerds. o7
