Polarized weapons, what/how are they used for?

Pretty simple, since they were first introduced they kinda slipped off my mind and now I would like to know which uses are they seeing, and by who. So just ask the EVE savvies:

Are polarized weapons used in PvE? Or they're used mainly for PvP?

Which are the more popular polarized weapons and their uses?

Thanks for any serious answers (this is GD, I know...)

there are uses for them (aside from pos bashing),
thing is though no one who has twigged a use for them will tell on the forums

Well, I bear that in mind. Also won't tell whether I'm thinking of any use... Blink

Structure bashing was something I suspected since structures usually don't shoot back...

I tried to gank a Gila with a polarized catalyst once.

Oh, I perfectly understand, Hal Morsh — a mission like this requires courage, skill, and heroism… qualities you are clearly lacking. Have you forgotten you're one of the bloody immortals!?

They're just about as useful as the new missile modules. And thats what we call a development trend.

They're great for torpedo deliveries!

opinions about their use are rather polarizing

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

I was just gonna say bombers probably love these. Now, we just need to convince CCP to add in cap level polarized guns/launchers and watch from a safe distance.Twisted

Remember just because something reduces tank for higher DPS, it's not to be easily ruled out. Reason is, DPS can be your tank in particular in PVe where removing enemies from the field will reduce the damage you take rapidly.

For PVP, I'm not sure. Too many variables. If you get jammed you're done.

Polarized weapons can be really useful on a dps ship in a small, well organized gang since your tank is your gang mates ability to control the enemy while you pop them.

This, as far as I know. Depending on target, your bomber won't live if locked anyway. Similar applications are perhaps possible, although needs at least similar ability to pick fights.
