my dell xps with gt555m 3gig gfx card and i7 processor can run on high settings just, you will probably need a better specced gaming laptop to deal with the new graphics effects.

can you link the laptop in question so we can check its full specs

And now we're in 2015 Smile
Even modern games are mentioning SSD in recommended specs. And for old games, older laptops etc, huge performance boost. Made my 3yo laptop feel like band new, newer!
Less heat, better battery life, crazy fast load speeds. And I can drop it now Big smile and I have! just because!!
A lot of them come now with hybrid drives, best to pull them out and put it on the desktop computer, drop in a pure ssd.

I know it's not that great but it's very cheap, if some one could link another budget laptop for eve 600 max. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00T7XTIXQ#Ask this is the one

Another one little above budget but seems to be way better any ideas on it: again is primarily for eve max settings prefered

I have 1TB 5400 rpm and it works just nice. What you will want to do is tweak the setting so that the game runs smoothly and with Eve you can get the smooth bud bad looking on P6100, AMD 5470 HD M or smooth and ok looking on i5 and AMD 7570 or mostly smooth on i7 and GT840M.

You did not mention the GPU, but if you are going to run it with integrated GPU you will have to make some choices in graphics settings. When I do just exploration and hacking, there is no problems, but with some combat site running I can experience stutters on highest settings. If you will go PvP, you will want no stutters at all, so you would need to get better PC or lower settings.

TL DR: EvE scales well and will most probably work ok, but if you want the best, you need better PC and dedicated GPU.

Will the SSD make much of a difference when playing games, i though the choke points were RAM and GPU?

I don't need twitter. I'm already following you.

for rendering and processing yeah but the os will be faster on ssd, load times shorter ect ect

Yeah to upgrade, really easy. But really anything new I can't imagine not going with an SSD, would be like timewarping back to the 20th century using a mechanical drive prying under the fingernails sort of torture. And really they are pretty cheap now. It really is a huge difference, especially for a laptop.

1. GeForce gpu of at least a gtx 650 2gb (for EVE max settings) or greater. You can get Radeon, but imo if you just cant find a GeForce. Oh and Intel HD will work, something of the newer verity.
2. SSD You can get a 256GB for under $100, just crazy price dropping from a year ago.
3 2.xx whatever multi-core CPU (though more important if you are blobbing through EVE)
4. 4-8GB of ram.

No need for touch screen or glowy keys. And actually hard plastic is better than metal case for wifi. Only thing I give a techie pass, how I wasted my college dayz. hah

Well I did some more research this is the best budget tophttp://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0105JD1HE/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2XRF5J1IEKTE9

Do you guys think it can run eve?

You really should go for an SSD. It makes such a huge difference even old computers suddenly become fast again. Like, I'm going to buy me a cheap, small msata SSD just for the swapfile alone, which sounds nuts but it's sooo worth it! And all the time you save from EVE not lagging anymore from reading cached files!

I just walk into the store and say I have a budget of around 1k, just want a cheap laptop with a reasonable graphics card.

No idea on technicalities, other than it's a cheap shitter with a semi-decent card.

Runs multiple clients fine. *shrugs*

Dunno why people fuss over small stats unless you're pushing for the last fraction of performance you can squeeze.

Because they don't want to get screwed. Most salesman don't care if you buy good stuff, they care about you dropping lots of money and feeling fine about it. People care, because they care about their money enough not to throw it away for potential crap. Not doing research about what you want to buy can be very eye opening.

Yes, load times, and during gaming with load times (notice your HD spinning while you play games). But also, Windows uses virtual memory which is run off the HD. If that is an HDD, well there is a nice bottleneck for you as well while SSD is 10x faster. But yes, GPU is important, so is Ram, CPU too, but add hard drive speed to that too. Best to have a balance in there.

Also as mentioned, SSD is lower power usage and most importantly lower heat. The more heat you have in your laptop, the sooner it will fail. And drop that laptop with a mechanical drive, it can be lights out. I've always had a laptop the past 20yrs, SSD is the best thing to happen for laptops yet.
