Pretty much this. you get some more dps out of a thanny, but that is about all. That archon will survive a lot longer and is better at everything other than applying dps.

Archon for pvp, Thanny for ratting or pvp. Personally, I'd go for the Thanny. Much better pve, for yourself. For blobbing, if you're going to die, you're going to die. Just do your part, pop, then log. They can't reasonably expect more.Roll

Archon for tank and armor logi, Thanny for dps. Don't bother with the Chimera.

Archon, its better than the thanny for pretty much everything except ratting and hauling.

Gallente Carrier V was the biggest **** up i ever did, not my fault the nyx is such a sexy ship though.

EVE online is the fishermans friend of MMO's. If it's too hard you are too weak.

Agreed on every single point.
Buying a cap + the skills for it is a fairly large investment and if you don't get the Archon chances are you'll want to crosstrain for it anyway. The armor resist bonus is so much more useful than the fighter DPS bonus it's not even funny.

You won't be repping POSes with an Archon though. Could be a plus or a minus depending on who you ask.

I don't think his post should be taken in the context of "Lets go play Station games, wheeee!" but rather as an acknowledgement of the situation; station games exist, and they don't seem to be going away. If you neither acknowledge station games nor learn how the rules work, then your ability to function in that situation will be hampered.
