FW Pilot Standings Question

My very first foray into the forums, here.

I'm a very novice PVPer, mostly sticking to wardecs at the moment, and not involved in faction warfare. One of my targets recently had a small Minmatar Militia corp ally with it. For the most part I can ignore them as my primary areas of operation are Amarr and Caldari space, which would give me quite a home field advantage were they to make the trip out to pay me a visit, what with the faction navies getting in on any prolonged engagement.

I'd much rather take a fight to them, however. My concern here is something that I seem to recall reading months ago about both NPC corp pilots and faction warfare pilots: kills against NPC corp pilots result in corp standing losses and kills against FW pilots result in faction standing losses, even if you yourself are not a FW participant. I've put a considerable amount of time (and ISK) into working towards locator agent access across all four main empires and that's not something I'm keen on giving up, let alone the eventual possibility of losing access to two empires' space.

Anyone able to confirm this, or better yet, refute this?

If you kill a FW pilot, you lose standing with the FW NPC corporation, e.g. Federal Defense Union, State Protectorate. You won't lose faction standing. I've blapped a few FW pilots around lowsec, and haven't experienced any loss in faction standing.

Excellent. The war in question has since ended but I'll file this away for future use as I'm sure I'll run into a similar situation at some point. Appreciate the informed answer!

Incorrect. You only lose standing with the corporations if a pilot is apart of the NPC corporation (AKA Lone Wolf militia pilot who is Corpless). If you kill a member in a player corporation who is in faction warfare - you will lose not standing assuming you are a neutral pilot.

However; If you are in the same MILITIA and shoot at a pilot you will lose FACTION & CORPORATION standing for doing so. The one loop hole of this is that you can shoot allied militias without incurring any penalties (Unless they are apart of State Protectorate, Crusade, Federal Militia and Whiny Rust Kite Babies) at which point no matter what side you on you will incur the corp hit.
