Hello!

I´m pretty new in eve and i want to fly an T3 destroyer (mainly solo) in fw. I know that Svipul are very good for solo pvp, but i dont like them. i want to play confessor or jackdaw but i dont know what i should prefer for solo pvp.

I like the rockets (above all the animation) and i like shield tank, but i dont like the weakness of the missiles against active tank and fast kiting ships. And i like lasers but i hate really the trackings problems.

You would prefer something else?

I get the impression that rocket Jackdaw can effortlessly break active tanks. Myabe shield are slightly tough, but in general, even with low alpha, the consistent deeps will end up getting in between the rep cycles.

Svipul isn't nearly as deadly as a beam confessor at range, and has lower dps at close

Compared to jackdaw, it can't orbit at 30 kms going 3.5k/s + in speed mode with an align time of 2 secs while still hitting no problem, at close range jackdaw has better range control and tanks more

to be fair there aren't a lot of people flying around looking for Jackdaws in ships specifically fast enough to outrun missiles. Javelin missiles will hit most targets, or at least be enough of a hassle that you'll have a good opportunity to slip point and warp off. Damps aren't going to be a problem either since there's enough range in Sharpshooter mode to pretty much ignore them.

Caldari ships are kind of meh overall but the Jackdaw stats look great and there's a lot to be said for a flying swiss army knife that can mount weapons and tank capable of carrying on no matter how rough the going gets.

Confessor is basically just a T2 Coercer and for all its tank and DPS capabilities it's nothing more than a shiny rock in space the instant the cap runs dry.

If I had to choose between a Jackdaw and a Svipul, I'd prolly go with the Jackdaw. Jackdaw has more mid slots so you can sport a comparable tank to the Svipul, while having slots left for scram and a web. Sure your dps won't be as stellar as the Svipul, but it is still more than enough.

Exactly my point, but you don't have to tank it that much. When you do, you're gimping something else. I use a 3 slot tank, prop mod, web, scram. It's not cap stable, but what good pvp ship is?

Never had any cap problems running a beam confessor, and I've used them extensively in nullsec battles ongrid with several hundred enemy. And lived. And blapped many ships. It all boils down to how well you fly it.


As for Hecate...I'm trying sniper variants of this one as well. The volleys are somewhat smaller than confessor although the dps is supposed to be comparable (and better tracking on Hecate too). Still undecided. I actually think there is 'shock' value to the Confessors volleys. If you are in any kind of frig or smaller if you haven't reacted immediately to that first volley from 80km away you are pretty much dead by the time the next one hits.
