The CGI CCP has put out in their trailers is definitely very good. They could do something like create it and sell it through account management or just upload it to something like youtube and get ad revenue. They can also put it up and steam and various other media sources. They don't need a billion $$$ budget to get it into theaters.

I know I'd pay to see it.

Who wants to watch a movie primarily about scamming jerks, miners getting ganked, and sitting around for 3 hours to go on a roam where 5 minutes into the thing the FC docks up to change his kids diaper...and this all the while the viewers favorite ship gets nerfed every week...

I'm not sure there is an actor alive that has the gravitas necessary to play the part of James 315.

No.

Well, CCP actually asked the players to make another This Is EVE, and the winners were announced at Fanfest with little success as far as I know.

It didn't helped much that the winner was a Korean video which made little to no sense at imitating the original structure of the trailer...

- Nobody would want to watch a guy spouting bad and stu-pid propaganda for hours and do NOTHING else.
- "carebears", "tears" and "bot-aspirants" are connected to players behind monitors (NO-GO)
- this stuff is immerson breaking, you can't do that in TV. (thats not even about the 4th wall)
- however: code is a clowns troupe, that'd be a great comic factor. The desperatly stu-pid wannabe hisec gangstas, incapable of doing, what they say the do. Running from fights like the AT12. Winning when they lost hard... (du-mb and du-mber in space)
(but code-monkeys will hate when they see, what picture of them the others have)
Big smile

So i understand, that would show how pathetic code is, thats why you say :

EvE has gigantic Screen potential, but you have to take a step back first.

Like the WoW movie will not be about the game is played, but about the background (lore!!) of some famous characters.

I changed my mind:
a complete season series about wormhole and collapse, rise of the empires and the actual state will not be financed.
Still: ARCS in series are common now.
Game of Thrones is just one gigantic ARC, killing beloved main chars away.
It CAN work.
But one cannot stick with Startrek or CSI Styles.

Starring Robert Patrick as Sansha overlord, Patrick Stewart as President of Gallente, and Mark Hamill as a Minmatar vagabond who wakes up from a Drifter ship´s holding cell with a shady scammer from Jita local (acted by Harrison Ford himself).

Also included: Donald Trump, evil backround forum warrior who wants to free New Eden from any high level management, and only depending on people who live there...

After thinking over, it gets easier and still immersion keeping.
Since capsuleers are virtualy immortals, this story could evolve about one of the first capsuleers. You can kick three seasons, one would work. More can come.
This char could recap the stories "Wormhole and the old Earth", Jovians, etc, etc.

"virtually immortal" is not the same like immotal. A capsuleer can die, when the transmission fails. Easy enough to imagine reasons for it.

But stuff has to be defined first:
How big will the series be?
10, 20 Episodes?
What will be the corner points?
What needs to be in the series, which can be left out or wait for Internetspecials and stuff?

I say it can be done and it can be great.

Points for big space fights:
Absout important:
Earth and the first wormhole. Struggle and Spacefights
Faction wars. Diplomatics and Spacefights
Soverenity aside (nullsec) the empire(hisec), lowsec as a dangerous but still empire space.
nullsec: Titans and gigantic Spacefights!
hisec: law and order games: Spacefights.
losec: hinterlands of Empire: Conspiracy and Spacefights.

Did i mention Spacefights?
Scams, betrayal and the dark Universe of EvE: Absolutly!

ha love the idea but be honest eve is for 90% boring come on dont say it is not. It is. So to make a movie well perhaps but it will not like eve is. See transformers same mistake the have. Focus on the human aspect in eve is wrong there is no human part is also wrong. A movie need to have action drama even some romans enc enc. So it can be done but it will not effect the non eve players.

Like is said the movie or series ( i think a movie is a bad idea) should be made from the history of the game not from the players experience or ingame stuff it wouldnt make sense and it would be boring . there are alot of material to make a decent movie eve has a rich history which could be exploited to make a decent tv series.

Don't give CCP any ideas - if dust and vampires and the eve sub cash thrown at that (now down the pan) are any indication - then i'm sure an eve movie or tv series would be a real hit.
