The fact that anyone undocks a freighter in anything but an NPC corp hauler (and no, gankers, Petre isn't my hauler, he's a forum alt, calm down) with a scout or two is beyond me...


On a only slightly related note and in a far too obvious attempt to spread some more controversy to keep this beautiful thread alive, let me state that I find it pretty hilarious how we all are using npc corp alts for delicate tasks such as freighter piloting or boosting and yet condemn those filthy, risk averse, subhuman carebears for hiding in npc corps.

I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

Hell, I'VE HAD IT with you guys and this game, for real this tyme.

I can't move high valuable goods during Burn Amarr without getting ganked in a freighter!!!!???? I'm not bad at the game, THE GAME IS BAD and absolutely NOTHING WAS MY FAULT and I don't accept any of your feedback because I'm awesome and always right because my mum says so probably.

Also, this one tyme someone called me a nastie name and made fun of me and my dad knows a dude, who knows a dude who has a second cousin who knows someone who works at CCP he thinks and I'm going to ask him that all yous are BANNED because this is my game and everyone must play it the way I want it to be played.

Until then, see you later lossers, I'm going to go play Elite.

I'm too lazy to see if anyone else already replied to this, so if someone has, too bad.

When I need to move my freighter alts, I use a dual webbed daredevil. (I chose the daredevil cause it looks awesome, that's the only reason. Seriously) I have a microwarpdrive on it too.

When my freighter loads into system I tell it to warp to the next stargate and jump. Immediately after, my daredevil decloaks and microwarps towards the freighter (careful not to hit it), as soon as he's in range, engage both webs, and the freighter hits warp immediately.

The freighter is only on grid for about 3-5 seconds if you do it right. Not nearly enough time for the bumping macharials to notice, align to, and hit you.

If you see them on grid, you can move the daredevil closer to the freighter before it even decloaks, that way the second it decloaks you lock it and dual web it.

It's not flawless, but it's damn hard to catch the freighter that way. It works for Orcas as well.

And no, the MWD + Warp isn't enough for an Orca. It helps, but the bumper would have to be asleep or distracted.

I just use a sensor boosted Rapier. The web range bonus means I don't have to move, and the rapier is already decloaked wll before the frieghter even jumps. Mids are all webs and sensor booster plus some tank and signal amps in the lows, and my overview is set to only see friendly frighters. 2 seconds from freighter decloak to warping.

More to the point it was during Burn Amarr. We were ganking EVERYTHING, tanked, untanked, didn't matter. We didn't even care what it was carrying. Though obviously we prioritized higher value targets.

I do the same thing. I use Federation Navy webs - the time delay between decloak and warp is literally the time to target the freighter.

I'm too lazy to see if anyone else already replied to this, so if someone has, too bad.

Another important thing is to ask yourself if you really need a freighter for the trip.
If you don't have to haul massive amounts of stuff, DSTs are much cheaper, much faster and much more agile while sporting about the same EHP as a freighter.
Triple inertia-stabbed Mastodon is a beast, just sayin'.
DSTs are so much faster, that you could do a couple of trips with a DST and still be faster than a single freighter trip.

because when 2 charons both hauling 10b jump in to the system you're in... the first one you're going to shoot is the untanked one.

Clearly they didn't even bother to scan the tank of the victim as they brought enough to kill a fully tanked Obelisk which has far more ehp then a fully tanked charon. Had they scanned the tank they would of saved isk by not bringing the talos(70-80m fitted) and if they really wanted to skimp some of the catas (7-8m fitted). One talos is easily the cost of 10 catas. Instead they brought enough damage to take out the highest ehp freighter you can get).

In this case the one shot first is the first one they bump.

That much was blindingly obvious. You brought enough damage to destroy even a max tanked obelisk. :P
