New Beta Map Feedback

The new map is nice, thank you.

I believe it needs the following to be more useful:

1. Set a galactic north. It rotates all weird when first opening, and really should have "north" fixed.

2. Please flatten the map by default.

3. Allow us to turn off rotation of the map though a setting so we can't screw up the galactic north. (maybe make it default?)

4. Clear the search text box when we close and reopen the map.

5. Have the text box open and get focus as soon as we open the map so we can immediately type our destination.

6. When typing in the search text box please make enter select the destination so we don't have to right click and use the
mouse.

7. When we use the floating window option of the map please make it create it's own window so we can put it on a second
monitor and leave it open.

8. When travelling with map open it would be nice to check a box and have it "follow" so it shows what system you are in currently without having to always click the target icon on the top.

9. Give us the option to ungroup celestial's on the map so instead of grouped they appear stacked one on top of the other.

10. Give us an option to show D-Scan range on the map so it can appear as a bubble around our ship. This would help identify what is in range and what is not. (ensure it changes as we modify our D-Scan range.)

After using it for a bit this is what I have came up with that I find very lacking. Well besides a 2d map like dotLan.

The rotation of the map to loose galactic north is probably the most annoying, followed by the rotation as I always try and pan and press the wrong mouse button and start a rotate instead. Please give us the option to disable rotation once we have our preferred map orientation set, or setup a galactic north we can use.

Because I don't really want open a new topic, and maybe we can get an official feedback thread, I'm gonna add to this.

1. I'd like to see the pointer changed to a more normal mouse button. Currently the circle mouse icon is difficult to tell exactly where I'm clicking. This makes maneuvering scan probes more difficult than it should.

Agreed but then the whole of the new map makes positioning scan probes harder.

But damn it sure looks pretty so I guess that is all that CCP thinks matters to we EvE players. If that is the case then this is indeed a sad event in EvE history.

I agree. The new Map is nice for traveling and nice to look at. But it's absolute crap for exploration and D-Scanner. The map does not turn acurately when I turn it with my mouse. I have a hard time to d-scan into a special direction for example a moon or planet because the locations always flip around and don't show the exact location.

1. New map needs the tactical overlay in AUs, just like on the old one.
2. The D-scan cone is needed. Seems like a redundant step to add a new map, but still make the F11 (system overview) essential.
3. Probe formations should be rotatable. This is not trivial and useful for certain probe formations (straight line for examples).
4. Ideally scanning would have a less dated interface (including the probe mechanics).
