Looks too Caldari.

The Caldari just sold their Garbage-scows to the Minnmatar at dumpingprices. The Matari, creative geniuses as they are, turned these obsolete garbage-scows into lethal destroyers, by cramming power generators in the roomy cargoholds & jammed up turrets on the extended space this former Caldari hull provides them compared to the old trasher.
The extended hull surface even allows them to expand the number of heatsink fins on it!

This is my headcanon for this new trasher design and I stick with it. Yes it looks very Caldari, specially when you remove the heatsink fins and honestly, it reminds me of a spaceship version of a garbage truck....

You're all aware that none of your opinions are going to change anything right? New thrasher inbound and it's probably gonna look just like one of those concepts. Someone got paid to sit around a make that thing and if it got enough internal approval to get posted for the public they aren't gonna start from scratch, deal w it.

You have two choices in regard to ALL the changes that have been introduced or are in the works for EvE...
1. Accept the fact that things change and CCP are going to do whatever they decide they want to do and keep playing.
2. Throw a tantrum because they are screwing with "your" game and leave.

Just make up your mind already and stop whinging about it.

Ive been going the tantrum #2 rpute pretty strong for several years.

I am adverse to any kind of change with anything.
So i guess i will continue with how i handle these situations the same as always...

Another ship that needs attention more desperately than the Thrasher.
I have heard that people train for the Helios so they can at least hide that awful hull Lol

I miss when the Helios used the Maulus hull.

The Thrasher redesign doesn't look any more Caldari than existing Minmatar ships. Hurricane is angular, oh must be Caldari! Hel and Nidhogg are the same basic shape as Drake. Typhoon looks like Tengu. There is already overlap. It's probably inevitable that there is some perceived overlap since they are both hard-edged races compared to the soft edges of Gallente and Amarr. And vice versa. A lot of Amarr ships are front-heavy like the Magnate and Maller, this is a typically Gallente aesthetic. Amarr also has some shrimp ships like the Inquisitor and Tormentor to go along with Gallente's Ishtar.

The Thrasher redesign looks too junky to be Caldari, I think. It has a lot of greebles on it, which Caldari does not. It also has blocky, angular, and circular shapes. More shape variety than typical for Caldari, aiding in it's junky look.

It also doesn't fit into the bird or I-beam design language of Caldari. Though Minmatar does have some bird-ships (there's that preexisting overlap again), the new Thrasher very much fits into Minmatar's dragons and fish theme. Stabber/Vagabond (dragon), Hurricane (sawfish), various other ships with "fins". The new Thrasher kind of reminds me of the American Gar fish with it's long body and low-slung snout. Then of course the gill-like fins are similar to the Cyclone and current Thrasher. The "head" on the Thrasher redesign also somewhat resembles the "head" on the Maelstrom.

If you want Minmatar to look like a precarious hodgepodge of crap with random wires sticking out, forget it. That era is long over. It came to an end when they introduced the Hurricane. Since then Minmatar ships have been steadily solidifying. Thank goodness.

While I do like the current Thrasher design I think the new one is a sizable improvement all around. I hope we see even more of this style in future Minmatar design incarnations Big smile
