But surely that is what a sandbox is all about? It can't just be a sandbox for one part of the community and not for everyone else? I am mainly a missioner and have been ganked twice in my marauder, it was a painful experience but I have learnt from it and not been ganked since.
What is great about Eve is that it is a scary place. If it because a non scary place then much of the enjoyment would disappear.

Don't get upset, get even

1. Don't fly what you can't afford to lose
2. Research the systems you fly find out and watch list the gankers
3. Meticulously watch local
4. Fly with friends
5. Run when required!

Are you complaining because your single MTU loss ever in your mission?

Or your unfitted Gnosis lost in a WH? (How did you get in there without a probe anyway?)

You misunderstand the term sandbox, you can attempt to build a sandcastle, and others can attempt to kick it down. You're not guaranteed to succeed at either, but you can tilt the odds in your favour by doing stuff like playing with others.

Now you're just trolling, if you truly feel that way I suggest you look at Elite Dangerous which does offer an essentially solo mode or the hype that is Star Citizen which claims it will have a PvP slider.

You being in nullsec is all the reason they need to shoot at you, even more so if it's an area of nullsec that they live in.

i mean when i was doing the mission i was just minding my own business and a frigate comes in and starts poking around my favourite tengu not really cool is it?

permit? i dunno what that means the agent told me to go there so im assuming it was ok? my ship was doing great it cost lots so id assume it was functioning properly, what inspectors? now you're just trolling

EvE is a sandbox. However, there is only a limited amount of sand. If you want to build your sand castle, you have to be prepared to protect it from others who may want to build bigger castles near yours.


Beachy metaphors aside, EvE is not a solo game. There is no such thing as "just running missions" or "just mining" or "PvE". Everything you do involves interacting with other players.

Think about this: every time you run a mission, more stuff gets injected into the EvE economy. Players in EvE sell stuff to make ISK, and the amount they make from selling it is based entirely on the player-driven market. Thus, if more stuff is being sold than there is demand for, prices drop and everyone selling stuff loses. By running missions and selling your loot/LP rewards, you are engaging in PvP against other players on the market. The same applies to mining, industry, etc.

Have you ever stopped to consider that maybe your competition will come shoot you in order to prevent you from lowering their profit margins? Or maybe to create more demand for your particular ship/modules?

Everything in EvE is PvP.
