o/
Just switched OS to linux (Arch)
got everything up and running in the last few days.
EVE runs beautifully, except the sound, which is super staticy.
Anyone run into this before / have fixes/workarounds?

Do you use Pulseaudio by any chance? I've encountered a similar issue with some applications when they talk directly with ALSA instead of Pulseaudio, which Wine does. In that case, see if setting the environment variable PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC to 30 will help.

If that does not help, can you provide us a description of your Wine configuration and the audio system you've set up on your computer?

Yes, I am using Pulse audio.
The env. variable didn't help at all.
Oddly enough, the games which can directly select output source (e.g. Guild Wars 2) don't have this crackling issue. but, it had sound working straight off the bat.
In EVE and Starcraft2, there was no sound until I installed the 32-bit libraries as per https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wine#Sound

I'll keep digging, hopefully I can figure something out with it.

just for there record I'm using:
arch linux 64bit
wine 1.7.44-2
lib32-libpulse 6.0-1
libpulse 6.0-2
pulseaudio 6.0-2
pulseaudio-alsa 2-3
ie latest version of everything available in the arch repos

system is an intel i5-4690, nvidia gtx970, 16 ram etc.

After much searching and trying loads of "solutions" I'm happy to report that I've finally cracked it!

The solution involved editing pulseaudio's daemon.conf, and near the bottom, uncommenting these two lines and setting values as below:

default-fragments = 8
default-fragment-size-msec = 3

then do "pulseaudio -k" from terminal for it to restart the daemon.

now sound is crystal clear and everything's running happily.
