With a population capacity of 20k heads, that form of time-slip suffered by cavers would be making that bacon and sausage taste like fruit and berries (..sic).

Plus I had this really contagious image of a spot of light from one of the air shafts, a pile of seeds and one germinating shoot.

The discovery harks back to another find in the same area called Derinkuyu.

That 18-storey structure was uncovered after a shocked man knocked down a wall in his basement in 1963.

But experts believe this new discovery dates back 5,000 years - even older than the previous find.

Mayor of the city Hasan Unver told National Geographic: "This new discovery will be added as a new pearl, a new diamond, a new gold.

"When the underground city beneath Nevsehir Castle is completely revealed, it is almost certain to change the destination of Cappadocia dramatically."
