something something macro keys on fancy keyboards, ig. press g1 to activate all highs, g2 to activate all mids, g3 to activate all lows

if I'm not mistaken that is allowed, as it only sends data to one client. and involves at the keyboard play. although it doesn't seem to pass the "stored rapid keystrokes" test

Don't think this is allowed because the automation gives you an in-game advantage.

We've got two different things here.

Multiboxing, where the software takes a single input and broadcasts it to multiple clients.

Macros and scripts, where the software sends keystroke(s) or mouse input(s) to a single client rather than the user doing it manually.

My understanding is that both are against the rules. You take your finger - possibly out of your backside - you press a key or click the mouse, you activate one command on one client ... that I believe is the only strictly legal way of doing it.

Hi everyone!

No this is not a troll thread. I'm asking because I honestly don't know.

I read CCP Falcon's thread up at the top of GD describing how input-automation is an illegal offense that can get you banned on your 2nd strike, but I wanted some clarification as to what they mean by input automation.

When I play I usually have 3 toons logged in all at once on 3 seperate clients all running on the same computer. I alt+tab to switch between toons and input all of the ship commands for my 3-man fleet manually. Took me a while to get the hang of it, but its gotten to the point now that I can alt+tab between the 3 clients and command all 3 ships almost seamlessly. I never use 3rd party software, just the game clients themselves.

So is how I'm playing with my 3 toons allowed? I'm asking because I don't want to be doing something illegal that could get me banned from my beloved game lol.

'Input Automation' is using third party type software such as ISBoxer to do almost anything in-game other than logging on your clients. So for example if you used ISBoxer to fire all the guns simultaneously on say six accounts that would now be breaking the EULA.

Operating multiple accounts manually is not a problem for CCP or other players and you can continue as you are. Smile

What everyone seems to be describing here is actually input broadcasting, which is also not allowed.

Input automation is botting or macroing.

Who put the goat in there?

Fine, input broadcasting sounds like drone assist. Input automations is drones set to aggressive.

Just when we thought everyone understood this. If you do something you know you should feel guilty about, even if you don't, it's something you shouldn't do. If it's something you don't feel guilty about, and rightly so, don't do it either. That's the only way to be sure. AND, since that means you'll be sitting on your hands right after you log, go ahead and send me all your stuff. I'll be sure it's put to good use.

There just isn't anything that can be said!

No but since 'bringing them in line with other weapons', they could do with losing their autonomy.
