Wanting upgrade, i7 or X4?

I want to build a PC just for eve, however I see that the recommended system requirements are either the i7 or X4. From my understanding these two processors are literally in a class of their own. I would love to save money and go for the X4 860 however I do believe I will be selling myself short in the future.

So can I save some cash and go for the X4 860, pair it with a solid video card?
