Opportunity cost. The entire time he is sitting waiting on you logging on he could be doing something to earn money.

Perhaps you misread me, nothing is stopping him from logging in an alt to do just that, which I pointed out. As I said the only cost to him is time spent waiting, which is moot due to the fact that he will most likely be doing other things while he awaits the return of his target. As I said though, that length of time is a bit excessive for a login trap, I would've moved on to other targets significantly sooner indeed.

Edit: as an aside, there's also the possibility that he, like myself could care less about "earning" isk as it's freely purchasable via PLEX whenever needed. Or perhaps he is hoping to make bank on some particularly shiny mods that could be fitted to the OP's ship, in which case he's doing what he would normally do to make some extra ISK.
