Hi guys,

I am currently running amd 6300 and a ati 7850 gc,
I run eve on two 24" dell monitors at 1960x1200 windowed.
It runs OK, but frame rates drop in pvp a bit, in a belt or anom.

I am looking at getting a more beefier card, but what to choose?

Budget is £200.

Thanks

PS: my antec300 case wont take a r9 290 :(

Something you could try is dumbing down the effects some. Get rid of camera shake and weapons effects.
Also, zoom out used to be effective. Keeping your tower well ventilated also helps.
Clear the cache from your game.
Clean all the millions of chat logs from your computer.

That 6300 might be a little outdated... Both might be actually. I don't think current cards even go by the thousandths any more.

imo anything Nvidia. They make by far the best dev/optimization tools used throughout the industry. I use to be a fan of ATI, but that was long ago.

I'm in it for the money

Amd r9 280, it's a little over 200 though you might find one cheaper (mine was 240).

Bang for buck it's pretty good.

Edit: here's the model I got, would recommend.

Edit 2 : I'm in Ireland so I'm talking euros .

If you are cheap, like me, get gtx 750ti.

970gtx is the lowest card one should buy now.
Price could be dropping in the next month so if you can hold out it might be wise to do so.

Even overkill for EVE. I usually just buy a new card in that price range every year or so, rather than spend 3x the $$ and feel I need to replace it in two years. But then for me, my audio card is important too, the latest-ish stuff to drive my music instruments and studio software, so I still wind up spending too much on upgrades. I mostly play older games anyway, and I have just one game I cant punch max settings on, but I don't feel it's that important for that game so no new card today for me. All depends on what you need the card for today, imo. Shouldn't have complaints with the gtx750 on EVE, anyway.

As for this...:

The price very likely will drop when AMD releases their new cards; however, there's nothing wrong with saving a dime on a 750ti. They're easily found refurbished (tons of people upgrade out of them in short order for the new hotness) and run EVE at very high settings, no problem at all. I picked mine up on hardware swap for $95 and you'd be hard pressed to find a 970 refurbished with anywhere near that discount. I will grant you that other gaming may well call for more horsepower, but a simple EVE player such as myself who rarely strays will be quite content with the efficient little bugger.
