i want to pitch an idea to myeve, the idea is a fast-paced, raw fight footage video blog with commentary!

but first let me give the background. i was looking for a corp for a long time, and a lot of the corps pitching themselves as "pvp corps" were really not doing very much pvp, having pretty bad ratios on their killboard, and generally just suffering from a lack of experience and/or fc knowledge. i thought, you know, there's got to be demand here for pvp education at a higher level than agony and eve-university are offering, these people are willing to pvp but just don't know where to start, what a tragedy!

me being the person i am, i'm really more interested in having a good fight than winning an unfair fight...

so, here's my proposal. i'm gonna continue pvping my evil little guts out, and i'm gonna fraps it all, and i'm gonna take the good/interesting fights and post them to a video blog with commentary. what i'm asking for here is a show of hands, for pvpers who think this might be something they're interested in to post here/contact me in game and we can work on some finer details and get this going.

eventually i'd like to add onto it a service where pro pvpers can, through a structured system, hire themselves out for tailored, high-end pvp lessons to any and all who are interested, but that's down the road a ways.

anyhow, let me know what you think. questions? input? interested in posting? interested in watching? let me know!

edit: also i guess i do really have to give credit to kil2 and kovorix for releasing their podcast, it really put 2 and 2 together. i listened to it and it was great! hope they keep it up

edit2: blog is up, if anyone has any better ideas for video hosting than youtube i'm all ears. meanwhile here is the link, enjoy

Sure, lets see what you got. I am always interested in seeing PvP vids with commentary.

Learning solo PvP, one explosion at a time.

ive done some quick commentaries here. generally havent advertised it because it isnt very organized.

i would say generally this is a fun idea, but because eve doesn't have an easy way of passing around footage, its an enormous amount of work. RTS games can easily toss a replay file to an analyst who can livestream a commentary or just fraps the game and render no prob. With eve you have a lot more complicated process, otherwise I think what youre talking about would already exist.

the most recent video on your channel was exactly what i had in mind, i just want to put a lot of pilots worth of different perspectives all in the same spot

my main gripes with the current video scene is that people usually only put out videos of fights they won, or at least fights where they look good, and that practice tends to mean people who put out very good videos only manage to put them out about one every couple of months.

the way game mechanics are moving right now, a 6 month old video doesn't necessarily represent the current state of the game, and i want these videos to be sort of an educational resource more than entertainment

I have always loved videos with commentary. Its great to see and know what the pilot was thinking. More people should do commentary videos alongside with their video so the viewer can see the thought behind every action, no matter if its a mistake or a great move.

But like kil2 said, exchanging footage can be hard (thats what she said) and often troublesome. But I do like your idea. Keep us posted :)

My YouTube subscriptions are constantly spammed full of new stuff because of this. I love it.

I especially like the inclusion of "blooper reels." It's nice to see seasoned pilots do lose, get blobbed, mess up, whatever. The commentary provides a lot of insight into why XYZ was a mistake, and what should have happened.

Being rather abysmal at PVP myself, it's nice to see the actual game-play going into what more experienced pilots are doing. A rocking highlights video with techno beats over the top is entertaining, but not very informative.

I know sometimes it's difficult to realize just how much you spend on incidental things each month or year, but seriously, EVE is very cheap entertainment compared to most things... If you are a smoker, smoke one less pack a week and pay for EVE, with money left over to pick up a cheap bundle of flowers for the EVE widow upstairs.
