So, in the latest tiericide patch, they balance these between meta modules and T2 (plates and SE). But some of these items have really high costs of production.

So my question is: Is their existence really worth it, just to be a "fake bling" for newbies, who don't know it any better ?

They tend to have average stats while having the lowest fitting costs. Some are very expensive and generally aren't worth it (but the same can can be said for items in other categories as well), however some are well worth it and are a good option for really tight fits such as the storyline Medium 'Gattote' Capacitor Booster.

Storyline mods is a very narrow market, not much enthusiasts who are bothered to produce them that is why it's low supply and that is why it's high in prices. As above said some of those mods are very handfull in a very tight fits but storyline mod is only good from fitting requiremnt perspective in regard of efficiency it's always below faction ones.

I used to use storyline damps on an Arazu fit I used.
In my memory, I think they were better AND fit easier.

My memory is questionable though....

According to EveMon...

Remote Sensor Dampener II
CPU = 42tf
Activation Cost = 36 GJ
Range Bonus = -15.3%
Scan Res Bonus = -15.3%

'Broker' Remote Sensor Dampener I
CPU = 31tf (-11)
Activation Cost = 27GJ (-9)
Range Bonus = -15.3%
Scan Res Bonus = -15.3%

'Executive' Remote Sensor Dampener I
CPU = 28tf (-14)
Activation Cost = 24GJ (-12)
Range Bonus = -15.57% (-0.27)
Scan Res Bonus = -15.57% (-0.27)

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."

for many items no there isn't really a use as they get outperformed by another reasonably priced version, or their stats aren't all that great. And then for some the cost is prohibitive for general use.

ex, target painters, the storyline version uses 17 cpu, where the PWNAGE version uses 16, and the PWNAGE has a bigger sig radius bonus.

the 10mn digital booster rockets (now 50mn digital microwarpdrive) used to be useful as they were the easiest to fit MWDs, but now the y-t8 compacts have similar fitting stats making the storyline version imo far less useful. although the storyline versions have better attributes (lower cap penalty, and higher speed) I sold all of mine, had a few stockpiled. can't tell where long term price will go, but I'm thinking down.

then there are damage controls, where the 'radical' damage control is rather expensive, provides a good bonus, and has the lowest fitting. not sure what fits use them, but they seem to hold a decent price. used to be higher, but I would guess people divesting in anticipation of a possible loss of value from tiericide. but there is also a higher volume so that might be more people building them.

I wonder about the availability of the parts, they drop in the cosmos complexes, but no idea how often they get run. most parts cost almost nothing, and some are 100m+ each, ex see sleeper profound research notes. I used to buy/sell these and manufacture with them, but as a lot of their value rides on the low fitting prop mods, I've been staying out of them. I will say I did enjoy selling a stack I bought for 90m each for 200m each, no clue what caused the spike in price, but no complaints.

The armour plates were really easy to fit - sometimes allowing an upgrade from 800 to 1600 without making other sacrifices. But the cost was obscene.

The obscene cost of some of the storyline items is very justified.

I once spend a whole day with two friends in the amarr cosmos labyrinth to farm the hacking canisters for the materials to build a storyline plate. We were hoping to build three plates, one for each of us. We all got fed up after wasting so much time and not even getting enough to build ONE plate!

The prices are crazy on the battleship style items and some others because of the idiot way CCP made the material farming. The drop rates in the canisters are way too low.

To the people that did farm them up and successfully built the items, you have my genuine respect.

Their price makes them broken and under used, stats look good on most of them. Nice fitting is well nice.

But the light greens should come at the dark green prices and well they dont.

The "new" sleeper cache relic/data sites in K-space drop some of the bpc's and stuff needed to build the storyline items i think.
