I really think blowing up the asteroids and zipping around to "ram scoop" the ore in would be really fun and exciting. It would also probably get rid of the whole afk mining thing if it was designed in a way that you had to go and "plant" charges on the asteroids to blow them up to scoop stuff.

+1 for being able to afk mine.
-1 for scripted pve content.
-1 for less risk in space.
(mining skills could influence new anchored structure, so +-0 here)
Look at drilling platforms. They might be what you are looking for. (but are destructible by entosis etc)

"more afk-stupitiy -> more ships in space -> more pvp-content."

Ideas are like Seeds. I'd chop fullgrown trees to start a fire.

Just give asteroids some cool explosion effect when they are destroyed, so we have something to look at while mining Lol

I agree that mining is dull and dominated by multiboxers because it lacks the stimulation to keep a single person even semi-busy. I think that's bad for the game in a lot of ways. However, I don't like this idea of rat spawn waves at a mining site, it seems super gimicy.

If mining is to be improved, I think we should take cues from the real world. Real world mining is anything but dull. There are blasting charges, excavators, dump trucks to haul rocks and giant machines to process the ore. There is a lot of activity at a mining site; in Eve, it's ships sitting stationary in space. Let's make a few more roles and make it a little more interactive, preferably in a way that gives low SP players a role as well.

Cooperative mining is already a thing the problem is that if you get a group of 10 people together to mine even in 1.0 security space the blue donut will slaughter you for ***** and giggles, hence it doesn't happen much.
Miners have learned stay spread out so if ganking occurs you are less likely to be a victim. Not whining, just stating the facts of life for miners.

Yawn,  I'm right as usual. The predictability kinda gets boring really.
