Aliens don't fit into the EVE universe. Their introduction would completely change the feel of the game, to it's detriment.

I do not think this is for "college course work."

The survey reads like a shameless "what kind of new alien race do you want?" thing.

I appreciate the thoughts it provoked. I haven't played lately, so I answered according to how I've played in the past when I'm not in the middle of uprooting myself from my residence.

I'm also very reluctant to get excited for anything planned in EVE anymore, and a playable new race would have been more provocative. The main issue I take with a hypothetical new alien race is the way Sleepers and Jove, and Sansha have been relegated to the PVE periphery.

In contrast, a new playable alien race is hard to get wrong, though it's possible to make them bland like a lot of other things in EVE.

Window dressing. EVE continues to be window dressing with a clunky UI.

There are already alien races in EVE, complete with ships, but we can't play them. Rather than introducing a new race, I'd like to see one of them become playable.

Filled it in. Drifters are kinda sorta alien enough for me.

I would encourage you to take the time to read up on how to design surveys. Take a class in this if you can. This one has a lot of problems with it. There are so many assumptions made by you that you basically can't get any useful information out of the results that you are going to get.

Figuring out how to get information from people in a useful way is an important skill. If you have the opportunity to learn more about this, do yourself a favor and go for it.

So what would you call Drifters, Sleepers, Jove, and possibly Sansha?

Humans that took the idea of humanity to a twisted extreme.

Alien in a sense... but still "human" in terms of origin. It makes "normal humans" question themselves; where we are going, how much are we would be willing to sacrifice to get there, and what would we do with the "humans" who made a difference choice.


An introduction of "true aliens" just devolves into an "us versus them" sort of deal. There is no existential questioning or ethical issue. They are "not from around here" and we want them "off our lawn."

EVE is about humans, our struggles, ambitions, desires, sanity, and insanity, blood lust, pleasure, pain, etc,

EVE should always just be about humans.

"alien races" in eve are not alien, they are just geneticly modlifed and manipulated humans, but still human. Drifters are a branch of jovein, which are a branch of humans. Just modifed via genetics and cybernetics. but still humans.

EVE doesn;t need any aliens, we are scary enough as we are.
