Evefile.exe will no longer work (launcher bypass disabled)

Just to repeat CCP Logibro's previous statement: logging into EVE via the exefile.exe will still work after the Carnyx release as long as the exefile has been updated to the correct version (which might involve a few manual steps in some cases).

Or I don’t know you could maybe do it all on your end so you’re paying customers don’t hate you more than they already do over this **** way to announce changes no one wants…..

I am fully expecting a JF range nerf or something to hit the patch notes on patch day. Because its not like it would not be the first time you have put changes in like that before without telling people.

There is absolutely ZERO excuse for an article like this to be announced by your staff without some kind of approval. You have to know by now that a vast majority of your remaining player base hates the launcher. It's clunky, buggy, doesn't always work as intended and has unintuitive layouts and commands. Basically it is the worst game launcher in comparison to the rest of the market and I'm including Origin in that list and it's absolute crap.

If you want your player base to use your launcher then you need to make it work as intended. You're so good about listening to community feedback that it baffles me that nothing has been done in this area. People have been whining about it since its inception with several people giving good and constructive feedback.

To just be cliché enough CCPlease :/

I have no issue with CCP forcing players to patch things using their launcher instead of the repair tool...

But I hope you never remove the possibility to launch the game through the .exe, its so much simpler, faster, reliable... And convenient if you're using simlinks and the like.

oh they will. My gues sis eventually the aluncher will add valk and possibly legion to it. so you will use that to pick which game you want. But the launcher has a LONG way to go before that happens

If I use launcher, I have to wait 1min 14 s to see character screen.
Using exe it was 36 s to see it. less than half minute of my life watching black screen. If you want people to use launcher and be thankfull for it, it have to be something like 40 s optimal logon time, and without grayed out buttons, "offlining" launchers and other "I am almost having a fun time" experiences.

Custom ship skins, character creator style "repaint". Bring it!

We are going to have to come up with a "launcher improvement committee" to fix the issues with the launcher and improve its viability. Evefile.exe does bypass the improved security measures that CCP is trying to implement, and they will have to disable it eventually. If I had the flexibility of deploying multiple Eve clients through a single launcher click, I would.

Just about every modern mmo uses a launcher. Just about everybody hates them. It hits harder for us because we typically use multiple clients. there is also the ddos issues, grey button issue, broken launcher issue, slow patch issue, it running issue, etc.

Pitchfork away for now.

I use the launcher for my 4 clients, i don;t really have many issues. but the slowness of it, is rather annoying. Esp on first log in. I do like that i cna easily alt with the launcher, as long as my last login was the account i want to alt.

I welcome this (pardon my upcoming language) ******* change - IF! you actually implement a way to keep separate settings folders/stores!

Until you do, I couldn't care less about your 2FA changes. You screwing up my two-digit settings for a fail 2FA is not worth it. I survived 12 years without so I will survive another year or so until you sort things out.

also edit/did you even consult CSM in this case?! I think at least a few would have raised a few concern about this change...

Needs a tactical nukelar arty instead of pitchfork if they went ahead with it.
The Scylla DoD changes has inherent issues that I don't think they will ever resolve ... just like the wonderful launcher.
