Announcing Operation Wide Eyes

For years, we capsuleers have plied the seas of Anoikis, transiting, in some cases, hundreds of wormholes daily. Yet while many millions live in this realm, we are no closer then ever to truly understanding the underlying mechanism at work. While some have claimed to have secretly taken possession of the knowledge, the majority are no closer then ever to understanding Anoikis.

There is clearly some order to the network, we know that much at least from our explorations. We've learned about static connections, how to map wormhole chains, about wandering wormholes, and shattered systems. We've built starbases, cities, and for millions of us, come to call Anoikis home.

Despite this progress, we would do well not to assume ourselves the masters of this space, for there are many mysteries we have yet to pry open. Operation Wide Eyes, will large in scope, has a simple question at its heart, "Is it possible to predict where a static wormhole will land next?" By answering this, we may open up areas of space we'd previously thought inaccessible, gain a greater ability to navigate Anoikis, and invigorate exploration and development of this frontier.

The method is simple, it relies on tracking the destinations of static wormholes over a long period of time, to analyse the destinations for patterns. The more data the project is provided with, the more effectively it will be able to function. Thus, I can't do it alone. I need the help of the capsuleer community if we truly want to make any headway.

Participation is simple, though it will be much easier for those who live in Anoikis then those who do not. All you you need to do, is track your static(s) over time, recording chronologically each destination system, constellation, and region as the static lands. If you miss a cycle, mark the missed connection with an X so as not to lose your place. The data won't be collected until the end of the project to preserve operational security for all participants.

Any discoveries made by the project will be publicly released for the betterment of all humanity. I hope to see a lot of contributions, and together maybe we can learn something awesome.

Sounds like a plan, I will gather data. Maybe it is also a smart idea to correlate acquired data with Project Looking Glass?

Good luck. Long overdue that we start exploring the behaviour of wormholes and perhaps even learn to control them for our own utility

No more chain collapsing to find the right wormhole?

The potential scientific value of your research is quite stunning. You have much labor ahead of you, I wish you good vigor and a steadfast attitude, what you might accomplish could positively impact millions. We will supply all data we gather in our travels to assist your worthy efforts.

This is an excellent en devour. I hope you are successful in finding a pattern and I will spread news of this project to my colleagues.

The project is well underway, ALXVP has been tracking the statics in Origin since this announcement was made. I don't know at this point if any other organisations are participating, but I would strongly encourage it.

* A video starts to play, a remarkably clear and sober Biko appears, smiling, then speaks in a way similar as in federal recruitment ads in movies.

I'm doing my part.

*He points to the viewer.

Are you?

*The video ends after a moment of silence.

This is a fascinating research project. I will be sure to let my corp's 1420.Research and Anoikis Divisions know about it so that those so inclined can contribute. I look forward to your findings and wish you success.

Meanwhile, I am conducting research in Thera to determine whether wormhole signatures ever spawn within 100K of a previously registered location. If my data is in any way useful to your project, please get in touch and I will provide you with access.

I think most of us at the moment are rather skeptical regarding the 'predictable' part of wormhole arrangement, and thus don't choose to do much in what we consider a futile task.

If you'd be willing to publish any preliminary findings of a stable 'pattern', you might change that however; that way people won't feel like they're charging at agricultural infrastructure.
