Yes. Because as the dev explained EVE shouldn't have them.

Well my suggestion was not as severe as that. I wouldn't mind retaining the progression mechanics as long as someone else does the grind and I pay them for it. Win win.

Do it! Pls.
Just make easier to lose those standings , and give players ability to buy standings for faction tags.

You will create new piece of economy and new player to player interaction.

How you can loose standings :
- ganking in a faction space
- becoming a suspect in space controlled by specific militia (exclude the kill right activation)
- smuggling
- fighting opposite FW
- killing faction NPC

Gaining standings :
Slow:
- missions
- COSMOS
Fast (but costly):
- using opposite faction tags

Concord Standings Gains :
(the most costly)
- by delivering (for no isk) Overseer belongings

In all those cases we also reducing the isk sink by not introducing new ISK from :
- selling tags
- selling overseer belongings

See, these are activities that I do already. For fun and a sense of accomplishment. The problem with the current system is that in order to unlock certain content I need to STOP doing this and carry some stupid piece of paper across the region.

Well, I'm afraid you are incorrect. Unless you mean the already mentioned Datacenter missions, which can be only done once in a lifetime and are an important sidestep in "The Plan" to repair your faction standings.

But it is predominately gained in large amounts in Lowsec. If you have a problem with valuable resources that can be infinitely farmed in safety then you need to have a look at nullsec exploration and wormhole PVE.

Only if you get sick standing losses with other empire factions when you raise opposing empire standings.
This losses must be really significant as in "do not go to that space anymore because you get instshot by Navy".
Then, and only then, a faction standing for tags can be acceptable.

there is ways to do this with out repeatedly running the missions,

some things in this game statically spawn. (clue)

also a probe launcher and combat probes may also be of benefit. (clue)

i used to a have favorite lil place in colelie where i could always get some easy kills and a crack some decent loot.

then one day i noticed i was absolutely killing my caldari faction .

so you can find the standings you want , you may have to hunt them down however.

and sometimes you may have to chase some one off their missions to improve your standings

the point being is that your going to have to go about in a not so straightforward fashion. but with a lil ingenuity some luck and some balsy actions you may just be able to pull off increasing your faction, causing some tears . profiting, and maybe be able to have a lil fun in doing so.

read up on the cosmos and the epic arcs, find the mtd, ????????????? Profit or in this case faction up!

This should be the most + post. We're reading that Zappity wants to circumvent certain game elements towards self progression. This is like a 1 day old piloting a Titan and unlike a 10,000 day old piloting a titan, because the 1 day old is looking to trade ISK/PLEX for avoiding progression, while the 10,000 day old is bought on bazaar market and the progression still exists.'

It's a very apt analogy of what this person making this thread wants.

Enjoy the game for the gameplay's sake or play a different game. HTFU, etc.
