Smallest Ship for Level 4 missions.

I'm recently returned to Eve after quite a long break. What are the smallest ships that can solo level 4 missions?

I'm currently running level 3 missions in my Wolf. I have fairly decent skills for all types of frigates but I'm hoping to avoid some of the larger ship skills for the time being until I have the support skills trained up to fly well.

My ultimate goal is to become a trader but I need some more isk to make that happen. The level 3 missions are becoming a bit boring but I'm guessing trying a level 4 in a Wolf is a bad idea.

I prefer minmatar ships but am curious what is the smallest ship people use for level 4 missions in high sec.

Thanks for your contributions.

Gila - easy way
People report using Assault frigates for it....

For me size of ship does not matter much. DPS is what matters - how fast you go through NPCs.

Svipul

CCP Quant: Of all those who logon in Eve, 1.5% do Incursions, 13.8% PVP and 19.2% run Missions while 22.4% mine.

40.7% Join a fleet. The idea that Eve is a PVP game is false, the social fabric is in Missions and Mining.

Running level 4 missions can be done in just about anything if you know how to fly your ship and don't care about completion times. However, doing a level 4 in say an AF or battlecruiser takes ages and it's far more efficient to keep running 3s.

If you already have good gunnery skills, I would recommend training for a machariel. You can also start off trading with a relatively small amount of ISK (few million is enough) if you are creative and able to spot market opportunities.

I also wouldn't rule out opening your own ISK doubling service or running some contract scams to provide startup capital. You'll be spending alot of time in hubs and there are plenty of idiots about. Wardecing/extorting highsec PvE corps is also an option.

AF's can do around .. 200-250dps at 1000m/s
Ishtar and Gila do around 800dps at 600m/s
Blaster Eagle does about 500dps at 550m/s
Marauders do at least 1000dps and don't move at all

L4 battleships die best with 400+dps being applied to them

AF's are fast enough and small enough to mitigate most of the incoming damage ... but the big targets take a while to chew through
Drones ftw ....

the Gila can get around 70k ehp on top of the 800dps at 600m/s
downside is most of your dps is destructible

On very limited occasions I have used a shuttle to run a level 4 mission.

If you don't follow the rules, neither will I.

Truth

Seriously the thing does over 400dps, use a ab to kite+get into range and it tanks Omni 240dps. It also has such a small sig that nothing bigger than a frigate is going to hit it.

Only problem is it is slow to kill big stuff and you have to hump things to be in range.

But it is darn fun Cool

I have done L4s in armor tanked Enyo, Ishkur, and Confessor. I have also used a Svipul. IMO, the armor tanked ships work best because it keeps your sig radius down.

By the way, using AFs or Tactical Destroyers is not going to be efficient, but it sure is fun.

If you're blitzing: Gila, any T3 Cruiser or Svipul will do the trick. Your speed/sig tank will be good enough to avoid most of the heavy hitters and your weapon systems are perfect for picking off the web/scram/EWAR frigs before going after the target ships.

For full clearing: Battleships. They do it better/faster.

a machariel is a good option for small ship feel, big ship firepower. Also depending on skills it may be a better decision to blitz level 3 missions than try level 4s. The high completion speed and low risk can make for a higher income than slow completions with better bounty/payout.

While slower an assault frigate can yield great fun on level 4's. Something tanky with good dps is ideal, such as an enyo or ishkur.
I've done them in a hawk before but had some big issues breaking the tank on some of the higher bounty battleships.
Target selection becomes a bit more important as you'll want to get rid of webbers ASAP so you don't get stomped by the rest of the fleet, but so long as you can keep your speed up you should be fine.

Edit: I mentioned the enyo and the ishkur. The enyo has great dps for it's size, but with blasters it's sometimes hard to project that damage far enough to hit fast moving webbing frigates. The ishkur puts out less damage, but with it's ability to field a full flight of light drones makes taking care of those pests a much easier process.

Come hell or high water, this sick world will know I was here.

Gila . gets my vote PiratePBlink

I love using mine for level 4 security missions. Well worth checking out.
This little powerhouse can be fitted with many different setups. It can pull very decent damage in both pve & pvp.

Skills you need to fly a Gila / modules:

Tech2 Medium drones: Vespa & Hammerhead (Augmented if you can afford them)
3x DDA
Works great as Passive or Active shield tank.
Missile skills, you can choose many options: HAM, HML, RLML
Afterburner or MWD
(10x Medium drone capacity)

Faction DDA's truly shine on this ship. You can make a budget fitting & still complete missions rather quick.

Stuff to take into account:

Micro management of drones is so simple with this ship. Since you can only use 2x drones at once.
With the new updates to the drone UI, you can easy manage your damaged drones.
Updated model, so it no longer looks like a ugly duckling Blink

EVEBoard ...Just over 60million skill points, each skill was chosen for a reason. I closed my eyes & clicked another skill to train... "BINGO...!!!" ... "This time i got something usefull"
