The dollar price is the same, so no, CCP has not increased the price.

1. Dollar has gone up against the Euro. 2. You are paying someone in Euro. 3. That someone is paying CCP in dollars.

Simple global economy 123 answer; if you're buying something with dollars and the value of the dollar goes up, you have to adjust the price in your local currency to keep the same margin.

In other news.. Beer is now also more expensive than a year ago. Just the other day i went to see mad max (great movie btw) and the price had gone up *again* in the last year. Why someone was complaining that his rent is no longer 30 shillings a month. And where is the broken glass and snow that we all had to walk in with bare feet to school?

Yea prices go up. Exchange rates change. The world turns. Deal with it.

oh and i earn about 2.5 to 3 plex an hour with my current salary.

Upcoming sov changes - People PLEXing their accounts, creating alts and people coming back into the game in preparation.
Summer - More free time for students on summer break to play EVE, needing PLEX to fuel/augment their playtime.
PLEX4GOOD - Currently in effect. A lot of people buying up PLEX to donate.

The real world economy has an effect on prices as well. When times get hard, PLEX prices rise.

Aside from maybe the SKIN system, none of those actually increase the demand buying PLEX, and even then, it would assume that people are buying in bulk to get skins for themselves rather than just buying AUR from CCP. Everything else happens in-game and is far too dampened out by the in-game economy to really have any useful effect on the retail prices. Also, even in such a case, it would actually make more sense for the retailers to reduce their prices by offering bulk sale packages to beat CCP's prices (cf. the deals that show up on Amazon every now and then).

A spot increase like the one the OP is talking about really only makes sense for the reason already listed: an exchange rate change (and at the prices quoted, the retailer buying in dollar somehow seems quite likely), a general wish to increase margins, or the retailer trying to retain margins when faced with new taxes and fees.

e: Come to think of it, if there were any actual effect from those factors, it would be to drive demand down for spending money on PLEX: as in-game demand increases, so do in-game prices, which means you now have to sell fewer PLEX to get the ISK you need, which in turn means you have to spend less money. But again, such fluctuations would only trigger the aforementioned bulk sales to drum up some interest, and not a gradual increase in price.
