Hi,

I'm trying to do start doing Exploration sites because I've become so bored of missions.

I can find sites but when I warp there, there is absolutely nothing there - just empty space.

Does this mean that someone else already completed the site?

I'm guessing you found an anom that didn't despawn correctly, so the answer is yes

Hmm, then it seems that nothing ever de-spawns at all. I only ever find empty sites, which is just a cruel waste of time.

It's the same with signatures (Radar, Magnetometric) and anomalies (combat sites).

Is there anyway to tell if a site has already been cleared?

Or is there anything I can do to help ensure that I find a site before somebody else?

Radars and Mags despawn as soon as someone finishes them. It's strange that you're managing to scan them down to 100% and they're gone by the time you're done warping to them. How long does it take you to probe down a signature?

Yes, that is odd. I've been doing exploration sites in the busiest hi-sec systems just to get used to the mechanics, and I certainly haven't had those problems.

I had a couple yesterday that should have despawned (I clear them, but then came back for the wreck) but they didn't. Might be a minor hiccup going on in game.

This has been going on for the last week. Every day I find 4 or 5 sites but they are all empty.

It doesn't take me long to scan a site to 100% - probably between 5-15 minutes each.

I'm using a Cheetah (Covert Ops - Level 4) and Sisters probes (not launcher).

Astrometrics 4
Acquisition 3
Rangefinding 3
Pinpointing 3
Hacking 3
Archaeology 3

I scanned sites to 100% in Abudban, Alakgur, Dammalin, Osoggur, etc.

I've even started warping to the site immediately (without changing ship) but still nothing. Sometimes I get the dialogue pop-up about the gate key and commander etc. But there is no gate key. There is no gate. There is no commander!

I've tried coming online right after the server reboot when the US is asleep but it didn't help.

Even if you find something, you actually don't :( What am I doing wrong?

Weekends are notoriously bad in high sec. I run Minmatar space and did quite well this weekend though with no empty sites.

I hope you have petitioned and emptied your cache....

Hmm? No. Sorry, I don't understand. Would that help? I can't think of any reason why exploration sites would be cached on the client-side.

My character has quite a few SP but I've never been a very active player - so I'm still a complete noob regarding many aspects of Eve.

Explore in low sec. That way if someone gets there first you get to shoot them, too.

I explore in these exact systems, and always finding empty sites is definitely a problem with the game or on your end, because i rarely find empty sites, infact 2 jumps from abudban i left 2 mag sites for an hour and came back to them and still ran them.

However, 5-15 minutes per site to get them to 100% is a LONG time, if it is actually that long, you need to probe differnetly or something, watch some guides and use the 5 probe cross method.

I don't mean to be offensive but two things come to mind, 1) there is a bug that is causign this for you or 2) you are warping to the wrong thing somehow. You are right clicking and selecting warp to signature (something like that) right from the scan menu right? It sounds like you are doing it correctly since you get pop up windows.

if this continues and you are sure you are correctly warping I'd petition.

5-15 minutes per site is long BUT if he's warping to the site as soon as he gets it to 100%, it should still be there. If the site has despawned he wouldn't be able to finish scanning it to 100% :P

And if you're getting the popup and there's no acceleration gate etc when you land out of warp... then that is rather strange yes.

I have not been playing so much lately, but haven't noticed anything unusual since the patch. I've run several ded sites in empire with no issue (aside from crap loot from overseers Cool).

Maybe, MAYBE, you're ship doesn't have much cap and isn't making the full warp? Crazy I know, but it can happen.
