So what's your pre-2000 movie for a Friday night?

Doesn't have to be a sci-fi (but obviously there's many good ones) and there may be pilots that are not even born at this time - to you - you don't know what you missed! - Until you watch these movies ofc!

I'll start out with two good ones.

Sci-fi best must see - Fifth Element

but also Say Anything

What's your suggestion for an evening?

Same answer as Kate. Can never go wrong with Blade Runner.

The Mad Max trilogy is also good, although I have mixed feelings about the third one.

Jackhammer subtlety. Bitches love cannons. This Is My Jam.

OMG Mad Max. I love those too.

I'll throw in Stanley Kubrick films as well. 2001: A Space Odyssey, Dr. Strangelove and Full Metal Jacket P

Side note, must be drunk to enjoy

Side note 2, Chribba, you mean pre-21st Century. Your thread title made me think "wtf, someone made a movie in 1899?". lol

Dream Vision was made in 1899, but there are earlier movies.

John Carpenter's The Thing. Great ensemble cast and plenty of sci-fi/horror fun. One of the few remakes that is better than the original (IMHO).

Combo:

Alien + Aliens + Alien Resurrection

Skip Alien 3, no amount of rewatching saves it. Bear

Really no A3? I happened to watch the directors cut the other month and was like woah! I've not seen this before! Altho now that you mention it...

While I did enjoy 3 a lot, two kicks butt and is amazing, and the first I feel have overtaken 3 lately.

Resurrection is very nice as well and I enjoyed that a whole lot. I'd go 2, 4, 1, 3 - Prometheus OMG OMG OMG! Lol

Slade! Where have you been?

Chribbs I would recommend:

Lost Boys

Eyes Wide Shut

Interview with the Vampire

Joffy Aulx-Gao for CSM. Fix links and OGB. Ban stabs from plexes. Fulfill karmic justice.

Hey Ya Sibyyl Bear

Lost Boys is an excellent vampire movie, one of my favorites if I am to be honest.

I had to take time off from gaming in general. I have a super crazy work schedule, I split up with my ex so I had to go through house hunting and buying all by myself, all the while maintianing half custody of my daughter. The budget is now allowing for me to get back into the game as I was never serious enough to be able to plex myself with my sporadic gameplay.

I'll add The Princess Bride, Blazing Saddles, Airplane, Brazil, and Twelve Monkeys.

Maybe also The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension, The Last Starfighter, and E.T.

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

Total Recall, Conan the Barbarian. Just about any Ahnold movie really. Even the crappy ones are still fun.

Demolition Man was fun.

I've always liked these cheesy low budget Van Damme movies:

Timecop "In the year... 2004... time travel is reality!"

Cyborg Fun fact, Cyborg was made off of the remains of what would have been the second He Man movie and the very first Spiderman movie. Cannon films was going bankrupt, their checks for those two properties bounced so they lost the rights. So they gave the costumes and props to the director and told him to make whatever the hell he wanted with them.

Agree with the ones already listed...

The Empire Strikes Back
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
Top Secret
Young Frankenstein
Blazing Saddles
The Matrix -- (seriously, 1999)
Jaws

We need to go deeper...

Altered States
Brainstorm -- Natalie Wood's last movie
Dark City

...

The African Queen
North by Northwest

Edit: Blazing Saddles was mentioned by stoicfaux, but needs to be mentioned twice. It's that good. It's one of those movies that could not be made today.
