I think some of you are missing a bit of the point here. Its not possible with current technology to get to the beacon point. Everyone saying its impossible to do because of the distance and time involved, you're right, with our current technology and FTL abilities, we can't do it. But that's entirely the point, while we don't have the technology, we know from the Sansha, and the SOE, and the Jove, that the technology is possible. The contest is long, and its designed to spur innovation. To create the technologies that would let us reach the beacon point. Not just for the contest, but for all of humanity.

The registration is still open, and I'd encourage anyone with an interest to consider signing up a team. It will be a long road, but I think we can make it.

Perhaps we need a new SoE ship twice the size of a Nestor equiped with a jump drive (and sufficient capacitor) and interstellar cyno probes?

Having just recently collected enough LP for a Stratios, I almost shudder to think of the work required to earn such a ship! Big smile

While I hope the best to all attempting to claim the prize, I have my serious doubts that any will. Not because it is impossible, of course, but because I couldn't conceive that CONCORD would ever make the required experimental resources available to capsuleers. If any of you were part of an experimental lab under one of the signing factions, maybe, but I doubt your nation would fund you.

The SSoE is exactly where I've earned the Astero and Stratios. Their representatives know my declared support and my standing with the faction.
