I know it's free and not whining about it, but from a Vulcan saying "It is not logical"....

why jacket instead of SKIN?

  • Jacket and its associated WIS feature is NOT being reiterated (SKIN on the other hand is)

  • Captain Quarters don't have interactions with another player in any meaningful visual manner, so no one is going to look at you unless they really "want" to look at you from info panel (SKIN on the opposite, can opted to be seeing when undocked if a player choose so)

  • I'm assuming people spin ships more than looking into their 5 star prison cell statistic-wise? (so since it's the same thing, I think a SKIN gift could give you more potential players who might just spend real money since it'd be more encouraging? and financial gains for CCP, win-win)

-_-

Edit:
topic beautification + keeping what started as discussion....a discussion

*ignoring replies where people are derailing the topic nor is part of the discussion*
(if you have nothing on topic to discuss about, please kindly not post)

Everyone is entitled to their personal preference and opinion, so not including "personal preferences" in the discussion, I DO NOT prefer any one over the other, this is to discuss "why not" which leads to "what if" and then to compare "would it possibly be better/worse"?

  • Argument 1 (btw, thank you sir for bring up the first reasoning that is meaningful) :
  • Quote:

Whereas the ship skins require that you own the ship/s in question.

    Counter Argument:
I'm not saying exclusive skins for some ship type that takes ages to train, if they can give out in the past - free faction skinned frigates (sure a lot of players have them converted into skin during the latest patch) and armored shuttle / yacht, a skinned noob ship is a SKIN nontheless, and henceforth can be used by male or female, old or new players. Also it is to my understanding you don't need to own the ship to activate skin, just need to apply it in the fitting window if it's activated on said character.

Cloth is however, different from SKIN as it is transferable and do not bind to a single character upon activation so that would be its advantage, it can circulate the market and change hand over and over

No one is forcing you to take it.

So why ***** about the choice? If CCP had given a SKIN, someone else would just complain about that too.

you can see my jacket in my portrait, and I could choose to show more of it if I wanted to. and anyways a small vanity item, I wouldn't take it too seriously, it is just an extra.

I turn custom skins off and zoom out.
I would like for ships to not even render, simply have elongated pyramids to show position and direction when required.

So, skins aren't on my wish list.

To be honest, the reappearance of the CA-3/4 took significantly longer than I anticipated. Or maybe I'm misremembering the occasions the CA-1/2 were handed out.

    yep, pretty much:

    "...not whining about it, but..."

Seems like the core of a complaint.

the 1/2 were gifts for an eve birthday and some Christmas if I remember right. maybe a year or two inbetween?

3/4 were for pre ordering the collectors edition, so had a pretty limited supply, and it has been a pretty long time since then. I assumed we would get more for Christmas one year and sold mine off for ~900mil each, Feel like I should have held out more, but I took the chance, and now that we are getting more it doesn't feel as bad. plus I have a nice stock of 1/2s I bought for like 20mil and they have spiked in price now.

the comprehension ability of the GD audience is interesting, I merely brought up a comparison of two rather similar "things" this game has to offer and an opening word becomes "core" of a complaint... or sort of otherwise

or is it a tradition to ignore the actual content of a discussion and paraphrase then attempt to drive a thread off-topic to closure?

if you have nothing to discuss, fine

    then discuss:

    they are of similar nature
the difference in appeal to the "wider" playerbase between the two
the potential financial influence to CCP between the two

Seems like we got the CA-1/2 at least 3 times else I got some I don't remember buying at some point. But yeah, it has bee a while since the 3/4. I expected them to come at some point in time, like the sleeve tattoos that came the following summer if I remember properly. Going for a year and a half after they were no longer able to be obtained was just more of wait than I though there would be.

I like the Jacket, and the Implants.. but I'll be honest, this would have been a great time for a special SKIN, or some Aurum.. The latter because it's been ages since any was given out so most players who haven't paid for Aurum haven't got anything from the NES/NEX themselves..

    1. Redeem jackets.
    2. Sell jackets.
    3. Buy a SKIN (there are some cheap ones).

    Jackets look bad ass! Cool
Extra chocolate sauce on top would been a ship skin for a random tier 1 battleship.
