honestly I see mostly praise, there is some criticism but nearly all of what I have seen is deserved. And maybe a few "waah! damage control icon change" but I half see those as a joke. Overall I think CCP is doing a great job, the new release schedule worried me a bit at first, but so far they have been delivering a bunch of stuff each time and most of it is good. I saw a great post the other day about how CCP had 4 major problems going on at the same time and that is why the summer of rage happened.

The Damage Control icon change broke my heart. It was iconic (see what I did there?!) and I'm literally going to get a tattoo of it.

Come WoW refugees, come to the darkness. Come, see what online gaming REALLY is.

Except things seem to be going the other way. Back when I started playing I would log on and there would be mid to high 30k folk on during est and there was a constant drum beat from ccp about how they were going to set a record for concurrent log ins and you would see spikes into the 40s (high 40s?). Anyway these days it seems always to be in the 20s and often the low 20s. Sure CCP claimed that after "this is eve" there was a spike in new users, but IMO it doesnt seem to have made a difference long term and every one of these updates seems to be driving long term users away, with none of the hordes of mythical wow users coming into replace them.

Got any kind of proof of that? Any kind at all? Not just inconsequential reports of you seeing the pilot count on the launcher. It is really easy to say "OMG x game is dying!!!" but it's way harder to actually prove it.

CCP has the data and they have shared it. Guess what? It is the exact opposite of what you're saying.

CCP have not shared the most most important piece of data which they used to for years now, and that is the actual number of Subscribers.

People can make there own minds why that is but for me it is the simple fact that they have gone down instead of up.

Its a great marketing tool to share with the world that your game is gaining subscribers but it is not so good to share if you are losing subscribers.

Most publishers like to tell the world when they have x number of subscribers but go all quiet when that number starts to go down.. CCP are no exception to the rule.

Hold up. If you admit you don't even know the amount of subscribers how can you possibly say it's gone down?

Ok, let's just stop right here and shove the logic out the cargo bay door before this thread degenerates into a rational discussion.

Just look at these people not getting it ...
... and thus actually proving it absolutely right !

Cowards hiding in npc corps should not be allowed to speak.

If you want to have a voice then earn it. In what way do you people actually believe
you have an equal right to speak ? Can you defend yourselves, if someone declares that you have not ?

No !
You can not !
You fully rely on others to do what is actually yours !

When words is all you have, you absolutely have to rely on an entity to protect you!
Without that entity you would be crushed to pieces and spread across several regions !

The only reason people like you exist is because natural selection doesn't reach you.

You missed a spot over there, btw.

The ONLY reason why you are still here is because the better people
still haven't realised that the whole issue of you being here wouldn't exist ...

... if they stopped giving you importance you need to get some attention ...

... and started stating examples !

Outright executions in open space !
Over and over again until you people get it !

You can only cry for so long ...

Okay but are there actually WoW refugees? Because when I see WoW players talking about EVE it's usually some kind of derpy comment that has no basis in reality. So I would not immediately expect to pull one of their corpses from a wreck (although all things considered, that makes total sense).

Those who realised the story made no sense, who saw through the unending grind to keep them subbed, and who weren't averse to PvP, they are the refugees. Cool

I am a former WoW player. Mind you, much of the time my playing EvE was during breaks from - or lulls in content in - WoW. I have neither hard feelings nor hatred for WoW. I enjoyed it immensely. It certainly was not a game that made the transition to EvE an easy one. Most WoW players, myself included, will end up trying to carebear in hi-sec for way too long. In many cases, that will become so dissatisfying that they just quit without ever having experienced much of what EvE has to offer.

That said, if anyone currently playing EvE really has an issue with WoW refugees coming over to this game, they're just stupid. The more players, the more money CCP makes, the more they can service this game.

That's nonsense in general.
I bet no one said that about the goons joining and destroying games out there.

Hey more players is great!
Let's have them all !

Doesn't matter if they fit the game and destroy it because they don't fit !

...... We're damn lucky the goons like this game. ^_^

I've been seeing a lot more complaining than usual about the WoW refugees recently. Seems it spiked when CCP announced permanent ship skins. The people who are so quick to complain about how entitled the wow community is are in a way entitled themselves. CCP is a company and making the game more appealing or easier gets subs. I'm in a new player friendly corp in nullsec and our numbers have been swelling with people completely new to EVE, its almost 2 a day at this point.

We don't get vets unsubbing and most are happy with the changes that are happening. EVE isn't "your" sandbox its "a" sandbox, yeah yeah my 15 dollars a month blah blah same argument the people in WoW use. I think its time to come to terms with the fact that EVE Online is not the same game it was 10 years ago and it will never be. Ship skins, clothing, refined UI some of the most heated topics recently are all massive revenue drivers for other companies. Of course CCP is going to add them and to think they won't try to make revenue because of the vocal minority bitching about it on the forums is just idiotic.

CCP isn't going to hold their game and company profits back because you feel dissatisfied with a change that has no impact on gameplay, get over it.

I have to agree. The changes are cosmetic and balance-based if anything. It's still a sandbox, and an unforgiving one if you come in with the same mindset you did in WoW. They won't change that concept of sandbox play, all they are doing is adding more appealing content to ensure the game doesn't die off.

We have a small player-base as it is, if they don't change things up they might lose even the most loyal players after there is nothing more to achieve for them. We should welcome additions to the game, just so long as they don't change the sandbox mentality of choice: The ability to make great decisions, and the ability to make really crappy decisions; the potential to gain and most importantly LOSE everything. That is what makes EVE Online great.

Who cares if they add skins and clothing, and an updated UI that only slightly increases efficiency of travel. I don't mind cosmetic changes. Half of these things you don't even have to involve yourself with. I still don't own skins lol.

As for the new player base 'destroying' the game....I have to disagree. If anything they provide us more targets to destroy, thus keeping the vets interested in staying. The new player base has more of a chance of unsubscribing at 6 months of getting blown up, than they do destroying this game with a "hold my hand please" mentality. That's pretty much how it's always been.

Yes, eve peaked AFTER their introduction. So it was clearly SOMETHING ELSE that made people quit.

Aparently Blizzard, in their infinite wisdom, decided to announce that three dimencional fast movement (flying mounts) wouldn't be enabled in the current expantion or any other that will follow.

On a 3rd party news website. On a friday night... Woops!

People are rioting on the forums as two factions (those who want flying and those who don't care) are going at each others throats. Many threats of subscription drops flying about so soon after Blizzard announced a 3 million subscription loss.

The anarchy is delicious!

So with more people looking around, EVE Online and others will probably seen new folks, refugees from WoW,
