Why?

Ever consider that high end books are a great ISK sink?

Main obstacle bringing friends to play the game is skill books.

That will need some clarification. I don't see the connection.

Never run into a skillbook I couldn't afford, which was of use to me.

Sure, there are really expensive ones. But if you need a skillbook for equipment, the equipment will probably set you back more.

The price of the skill books are affecting your friends choice or the way the skill system works?

Because the books are relatively easy to buy as you progress through the game

I could see removing the books, and having to be at a certain medical station to "install" the knowledge into your brain. Would make it a little less frustrating than navigating the market interface we have to deal with now. But like the saing goes, "If it ain't broke someone will try to fix it".

I don't check out the skills subforum very much but I see it's full of the same idiots we have elsewhere. Might check back again in 2013.

I'd rather have portable skill books which I can take with me into wormholes, null sec, and non-contiguous high sec islands. Not everybody lives in contiguous high sec.

And this is a game feature. If everywhere was as accessable as high sec, everywhere would be highsec.

People who live in wormholes do so knowing they're mostly cut off from civilization.

People who live in high sec islands do so knowing they have to man up and trek through empty lowsec to get back to market hubs.

People who live in nulsec do so knowing they live on the frontier, but they have alliance mates to help in forging an existance on that frontier.

Don't think I ever once mentioned having to be in High Sec .... there are still medical stations in 0.0 you can update a clone in right? I mean .... leaving HS is scary. /sarcasm.

I don't care either way if they stay or go. Having an addition to the medical interface directly paying to shove the skill in would be less tedious than searching the markets for books is all I am saying. Keep the books and give us a new way if you want. At current the system isn't broken, but I am sure someone will try and find a way to complicate or break it.

The only significantly expensive skills are entirely irrelevant to newbs without isk.

haha some funny comments but I wasn't referring to skill books and the costs associated with it -- but rather just training for things which is an endless ...... ........... ............. .. . . . .. . . . . . . .. . .. .. . . < fill free to fill in the blank :)

Why should a player that has played for a year NOT be able to fly every ship?

+training in eve vs leveling and having a sense of game balance.

Do you have trouble reading what people have typed and then formulating a response to it rather than breaking down each sentence? I've noticed on the forums you do that quite often .... A.D.D maybe?

No.

Do you have trouble answering simple questions?
Such as: how are skill books an obstacle (much less the main obstacle) to bringing friends to play the game?

To keep people playing for longer. To force people to choose between the many options available. To create variety. To create some amount of reliance on others. etc. etc. etc.
