I fire up the launcher, I get the login box OK.

But the bar along the bottom of the launcher remains grey, and the patch doesn't even start.

Happens on two different PC's so I do not believe it is an issue with hardware my end.

Anyone got any ideas?

FIX: Cleared launcher cache and forced restarted the launcher. However, it is being really slow.

here's what I just had to do.

Murder the launcher.

That is, when it freezes, press CTRL-SHIFT-ESC, find launcher.exe, right click it, and select "end process tree".

Each time it freezes, murder it. You will notice that what you must download each time is smaller. Keep at it until it says "client is ready".


yeah it sucks having to play update fu like this. So wish horrible things on whoever designed the launcher each time you murder the process. Worked for me. I'm finally in.

im new i play maybe 2 moths but this luncher is a crap , i tryed to repair it like 20 times now everything is ok but the button is still gray ... any another solution for this ?

Same thing for me the bar and login button stay gray and repair gives an error

You can still login via the exefile rightclick the eve icon and open location find and open the bin file and click the exefile.

I had the same problem, but I managed to solve it. Here's what I did:

1. Update the Launcher to its latest version with the link provided by CCP here

2. Find the latest patch and download it here (This is where the launcher goes to get the update. You'll be looking for the most recent version towards the bottom of the page. Make sure that the link you click ends in .patch and also specifies your OS, like Mac or Windows.)

3. Fire up the launcher

4. Open up the launcher options (it's the little gear in the upper-right corner)

5. Navigate to the "Download" tab

6. Click "Import" and select the patch that you downloaded earlier, at which point the launcher should start updating

I know that may be a little convoluted, but it might be worth a shot. Best of luck to you all!

I finally got the patch to work, but things are very strange with the launcher.

OK, I have been trying to get the patch the download on and off for two days. Every now and then, I would fire up the launcher and see if it would patch. Still the same problem, solid grey bar along the bottom of the launcher, and nothing happening.

Then last night, I had to connect to my work VPN to do something from home. While I was waiting for something work related, I decided to try the launcher again. The patch was downloaded and applied, and I was able to log in!

But here is where it gets strange. When I had finished working, I disconnected from my work VPN, and decided to play some EVE now I had it working.

I fired up the launcher, same problem again, solid grey bar along the bottom, and the 'play' button remained inactive.

I connected to my work VPN again and tried... It works perfectly, I am able to log in and play. Disconnect again and try... The same problem again.

So I powered up my laptop. Tried to play EVE, same problem with the launcher, grey bar along the bottom, no patching takes place.

I then connect to my work VPN on my laptop and try... Everything works fine.

How very strange indeed. I now need to connect to a VPN to play EVE, I have never had to do this before.

i can start that game now through the EXE file but if i try it with that launcher, he tries to dowload an update but he fails on it and kills my complete traffic for a couple of minutes
