Forum ate my first post...X

short version:

Great podcast , unique in its kind (I think), interesting subjects especially first part about decisions making during fight. Good stuff. Bit long though (short attention span here).

I also would like to know the answer to the question from Laktose about finding GF.

I myself was wondering if you fit differently for low sec fight than for null sec fighting. I often read about or see fit where people choose for an AB over an MWD and say its because they fight in low sec (to beat turret tracking in close range fights I am guessing). Or is this only relevant for frigs?

Learning solo PvP, one explosion at a time.

Excellent! Lots of interesting information in there. Been hoping this kind of podcast would come along for pvp aspirants and now finally its here YAY! Big smile

If this had been around when I first started would definitely not have spent 2 years doing missions "preparing" myself for PVP P

Love the PVP roundtable format and hope you do keep bringing out new episodes every 2 weeks as promised.
Congrats and well done.

p.s. maelstrom solo pvp = awesome Bear

I'm not crazy about podcasts, but I guess I'm gay for Kill2 because I enjoyed listening to this.

Really great stuff guys, I enjoyed listening to this today.

I have a small suggestion, if you are going to talk about particular engagements maybe you could link the kill board summary and fittings used on the other ships for completeness. Then people can piece together the battle from your commentary and from the final outcome.

Thanks so much for all the kind comments guys. I think both kil2 and I were a little unsure of this format, but it's good to hear people are enjoying it.

In solo situations, when do you take out enemy drones, rather than the enemy ship. When do you switch damage, and how much, just use your drones? maybe add a web?

Because I see in many videos, people have like 10-15 drones on them, and ignore them completely. And say even in active shield booster fits, with a smartbomb fitted, and 20 enemy drones working on your tank, they still don't activate the smartbomb (because its not worth the cap it would take?)

Haeri wrote:

I'll second Aldap's request in hearing about taking out drones + heavy neut vs smartbomb or possibly both, sacrificing a gun even (OMG blasphemy!).

That's something that definitely comes up every time i'm deciding how to fit. we can definitely talk about it as it intersects fitting and target calling.

Laktos wrote:

Also one topic that is of high interest to me is the process you guys go through to find regular good fights. Is it just pure luck or is there a certain amount of careful planning of routes and roaming times that you both find are more inducive to good fights against small gangs as opposed to blobs or empty space.

This is a really big one, and I think something everyone does differently. We'll address this for sure.

Low sec vs. null sec will be explored, especially since I have a bit more experience with the former and kil2 with the latter.

Thanks! That's a great suggestion. We also thought about including the fraps separately.

I think it would be better if you had some videos to show what you mean.

Loved it guys! Great work, and an original idea (with actual good content!)

I think another topic worth discussing would be the pros and cons of each weapon system, and why you would use each one in small gang/solo pvp. I'd like to hear how weapons such as Railguns would actually be applied ;)

Can't wait for the next one!

Man i was just gonna have a quick look on the forums then i see this :|

1 hour later, im pretty sure you can get some amazing stuff done with this concept.

Id say you would probably be able to do even more if you turned it into sort of a video commentary.

Im currently working on a sort of commentary series for World of Tanks, and ive realized while working on it that doing a quick, but reasonably in-depth explanation of the most common tactics employed, their strenghts, weaknesses makes doing followup videos alot easier and allows for a much more casual style.

What im basically saying is that you should probably take some time to go through the basics of the concepts you are going to talk about, then it will be easier for new people later on to adapt what you are saying to a situation you didnt necessarily go too much into.

To finish my post: Not so much a question, as another suggestion, but definatly take a look at when to use heat, implants, drugs, and even talk a bit about gang boosters maybe.

Drugs and heat is one of the easiest things to do wrong, but when you do it right it makes a huge difference, and can help even the odds when you are new and dont necessarily have the skills or modules to straight up compete with older players, so thats a topic i would think to be important to deal with pretty early.

Quality podcast, waiting for next episode Cool
As long as you're talking game mechanics and smallscale related stuff, i'm fine with p much any topic.
In terms of length - i'm used to 2-3hour podcasts. So for me, as long as its interesting content the longer the better.
Keep it up!

Good job m8s

I didn't really learn anything new from it, guess I'm not in the target audience either, but it's always enjoyable to listen to people who know their ****.

Nicely done, I really liked listening to it.

Suggestion: A good topic might be small gang coordination, I how important it is for people in a small group to communicate constantly with each other during a fight.

Starting a small simple blog would be an easy way to update people on the NOT-podcasts, and including links to BR or videos and whatnot, and kind of creating a simple index of the podcasts so far, doesnt have to be anything fancy.

A very enjoyable listen! Liked the choice of content (dissecting actual engagement situations) as well as the modest tone of the whole thing. Looking forward to the next episode.

Excellent stuff.

It's rare for someone with such a wealth of knowledge in PvP to be so willing to share his tactics.

If you are thinking about venturing into the dark world of killing and dying and think it is full of voodoo and confusion, this pod cast will help you understand how straightforward it really is. You will die (lots) but the few times you pull off some magic will remain with you for a long time.

I salute you Kil2, in your continued quest to encourage new pilots into the glory that is Eve pvp

Edit: to echo the above poster, the modesty of Kil2 is one of his charms, it's always straight forward pragmatic advice, no ego.

Also Kovorix, good stuff keep it up

Really enjoyed the podcast. Please keep up with it; for every post here, there are 100 more people downloading it and not bothering to post. Hell, I wasn't going to until I realised that you might not carry on unless you had enough interest!

Go! Start part II!
