This podcast is great for me. Im trying to get into PVP and getting to the next level of EVE. Keep the podcast going and the content on Youtube. Theres been alot of podcasts going down or slowing to pretty much a halt. Then theres also very few that deal directly with actually flying in space and how to fly etc. I made a donation and everyone else should too cause these guys deserve it and its not easy coming up with content especially something that people like on a regular basis.

For any Falcon pilots (alts) who were wondering how they should fit their Falcon. One of each smartbomb to be able to kill any drones (your only weakness), multispec so you can jam any ship, mwd so you can burn towards the drones to their surprise and the rest for capacitor recharge so that you don't have to worry about cap. Drones in case the jam fairy is in a bad mood.

Yes. Please. EVERYONE FIT THEIR FALCONS LIKE THIS.

Great episode, as usual. Though I agree with Zach that the dichotomy of isk/skill level from last week to this week's discussion was amusing.

Also to note that the Hurricane is no longer the fastest Battlecruiser. I'm not sure offhand, but I know at least the Talos and Tornado both have a higher top end speed.

All the tier 3s are faster than the hurricane. Even the Naga.

It's almost inaccurate to call them battlecruisers since they're more like cruisers with BS guns than battlecruisers with BS guns; they have cruiser tanks, cruiser speed, and cruiser maneuverability. The only thing they have in common with BCs is capacitor and of course the Battlecruiser skill bonuses.

Yeah, a scram would be better for killing cynabals and vagabonds and the like. But it also reduces your possible engagement range to things you can beat within 10k or so. So unless you KNOW you'll be facing a cynabal, I would still likely fit a long point when shield fitting a hurricane. As far as other ships, I find tier 3 BCs to be better cynabal killers - more damage, range, and speed (just hope they arent dual prop scram fit Cry).

Thanks a lot for elaborating on some of the topics i asked about, especially the AC hurricane with scram issue! I think i'm going to try it out on the account of using out of the ordinary setups!

Although you absolutely butchered my name on air Big smile, I loved this episode too guys!

Keep it up!

Yeah about the hurricane fastest BC thing: you are all right. It certainly isnt the fastest battlecruiser, but when I said it I guess I wasn't even thinking of tier3 bcs as bcs. They are just so different that I think my brain puts them in a different category altogether.

Awesome to hear some of you are out fighting! Keep it up =)

Really enjoying these "Pod"casts. Listening to this has definitely given me the urge to go out and kill some stuff recently, which just today resulted in a nice Republic Fleet Firetail kill , with me flying a Rifter. One young corpmate of mine (who is actually responsible for me finding your podcast in the first place) came along on the roam, and got on his first Killmail with me.

Long story short, keep em coming.

Tier 3 BCs should be regarded as a class of their own.

hi guys,

I got a question:

dont you get in trouble getting fights based on the reputation you guys started to get from the podcasts and youtube vids?

just wondering.

Once again, excellent work on the podcast!

I've been long wanting to do more soloing, but my original idea was that I should start with frigates and work my way up from there. Your best advice so far has been, at least to me, that it is lot easier to start with cruisers or battlecruisers, frigate fights for me are indeed over in few seconds.

So far I've done couple solo roams to Perrigen Falls, which seems kinda ideal for that, its pretty quiet, I haven't gotten blobbed yet and so far always there has been 1-2 guys interested in fighting.

You mentioned in one of your podcasts you'd love to hear some war stories, so here couple of mine that occurred basically because your podcast gave me inspiration to go out there and pick some fights.

NOTE: You need to copy/paste the raiden kb links to address bar, at least for me it doesnt seem to be working if I just click them. Annoying problem in the new EVEo

My first one was really encouraging (if you dont count the couple Ruptures I suicided to Vigilant) , I took nanocane out and tackled another cane on a gate. I was expecting it to be hairy fight down to structure with similiar fits, but to my suprise the guy never fired back. First I thought he was afk auto-piloting in 0.0, but this kinda tells the story http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=12486586 . Ill take a free kill, especially because next I ran into Myrmidon got him down to structure, he was dual (or triple) armor repped, so in prolonged brawl my nanocane melted, should have tried to pull range I guess. http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=12480456

Couple next nights were pretty successful by my standards (which arent that high mind you). This time I took out AC armor buffer Cane and was chasing Tengu few gates and run headalong to a Rokh, I think the Tengu was a cloaky link alt to this Rokh. As I uncloaked I missed the tackle on the Tengu, but uncloaked right next to the Rokh, tackled him, orbitted under his guns and withered him down with permarunning my neuts. http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=12481255

Next night I engaged Maelstrom that was sitting on gate, but I messed up my approach, took too long to get under his guns because I disabled MWD too early, when I finally stabilized my orbit close I was like 20% armor and from there his drones and occasional AC hits took me down, but not before I broke his shield tank and got him also to 50% armor or so. http://kb.raidenalliance.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=58218 After that I quickly reshipped to another armor buffer cane and went out to find him again, didnt mess up my approach second time and this time killed the mael http://kb.raidenalliance.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=58221 .

Because you were talking a lot of active tanking in your previous episode, I decided to give it a go aswell. It started very nice when I undocked my Cyclone, there was fight ongoing zero to the station, on which I managed to finish Harbinger that had killed a friendly Tornado http://kb.raidenalliance.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=59885 I continued on, engaged a HML Drake and could maybe have tanked him if I had not messed up with my tank, accidentally turning the booster off without noticing. The guys shield tank was starting to break when he finished me off http://kb.raidenalliance.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=59904

After losing the Cyclone, I decided to give try to a dual rep armor cane, I engaged another Hurricane on gate, only to get his buddy in (or most likely alt) to jump in Cruise Raven, I tried to de-aggro and jump the gate, but my tank melted pretty fast. http://kb.raidenalliance.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=59917 Annoyed that my dual rep cane didnt really get chance to fight the cane on its own terms, I reshipped to Vagabond, kited the Cane while his Raven alt was pounding away from a distance, both were also sporting enough to send full flights of ECM drones my way. After couple warpings in system, jumping a gate I managed to separate them long enough to get cane on armor before his alt managed to catch up. I dodge and kite the cane long enough to get him 50% structure when he finally gets on the webbing range due to me running out of cap, he slaps his dual web+scram on me, I overheat my guns, he explodes and I escape on low structure. http://kb.raidenalliance.net/?a=kill_related&kll_id=59917

Has been great fun and I think I'be been pretty lucky in getting decent fights. Thanks Kil2 and Kovorix for the encouraging podcast, wouldn't have done it otherwise I suspect.

EDIT: Sorry for the wall of text :/
EDIT2: Apparently you need to copy/paste links to to address bar, otherwise the kills wont open.

awesome fights by anyones standards! guess we should have included "good at soloing battleships" to the armor canes qualifications.

probably if anything, just the opposite. I'm still a pro ship-loser, at least, so no reason not to engage me Lol

I always found it funny that while gangs flee in terror from people like Garmon and Wildcat, almost nobody would give up a chance to engage you or Kil2 :D

I really like this podcast but it would be awesome if you could throw in some background music or something just to beef it up a little.

This is something I've actually always wondered about. I have a feeling that on the whole it doesn't end up having a huge effect. Sometimes I do go into a system and the pirate on the gate wants to dock up and chat with me instead of fight. But on the other hand, sometimes people engage because they know that what they see is what they get, and I think on some level its almost like being part of a good cause. If they win, good for them, if I win, maybe it gets into a video which is good for everyone! But yeah overall I'm still not really sure.

I agree with you, the issue is really just time/effort. Each episode already takes about 4 hours altogether to make and its just hard to think about adding more time to that when I could be getting more footage for youtube, trying to keep my marriage intact, or sleeping. I'll keep it in mind though and maybe somewhere along the way I'll do it.

Thanks Greg! I'll try to move that info to the OP here shortly.

Thanks also to all of you sending fight reports! Lakeend you're an animal keep it up!

Nice one again.

Regarding falcons, i would add that you should make your first goal to kill them, not just to scare them off. Always have f.o.f.s in ships that can use them (although it's still going to be very circumstantial on whether you switch to f.o.f.s even when you are jammed.) Use EM unless you are getting a kinetic bonus, then it is a toss up, but since your f.o.f.s will often shoot drones and tackle as well, the bonused kintetic is better imo. Bumps work well on falcons because (a) they have ****** align times and (b) they are often 10s of km away from their friends, so burning to them is seldom as suicidal as it sounds. F.o.f.s and bumps compliment each other well as getting close to the falcon is essential for the f.o.f.s anyway. In small gangs, tossing in a high dps amarr ship (read, oracle) is great as an anti-falcon. They often have either a spare mid or low for ECCM, they have relatively decent base sensor strength, they do EM damage at versatile range, and amarr ships are uncommon enough most falcons have, at most, one amarr jammer.

Also remember that falcon pilots are, on average, bad and risk averse pilots. If you scare them very badly once, they often wont decloak again. This can also mean their gangs are bad and risk averse as well. When their falcon leaves they may all think about leaving, so make sure and not only get those locks back but to also spread points.

Regarding hurricane, it was great to see your show inspired the guy above to grab an armor cane and take on battleships. If you know your target is likely to be a BS with a utility high, consider nos instead of neuts for extra ballerhood. Neuts are much less important for killing frigs with an armor cane. I've found switching to nos in an armor cane only really limits my effectiveness against strong active tanks - or passive tengus.
