I for one glad that our lab overlords have finally kicked the bucket and the mice are sorta free to eat all the cheese in the universe. But now we have a better ant to deal with.

There is always a better ant.

I am glad the Directorate is dead.

Also, using these things on Nation technology won't accomplish anything. Feel free to keep poking the bear though.

Fortunately or not, Polevhia, we don't know if that's the case. These observatories were still actively recording until their cloaking devices failed, which was notably after Caroline's Star. That could hint to Directorate remainders in the systems in Jove space, or else refugees in space we are not yet aware of, or else that these observatories are in fact not associated with the Directorate despite being Jove. We lack data.

Oh, and yes: it will definitely be interesting to see what happens when we poke Sansha technology. Mind, I suspect a large part of what's foiling us is lack of familiarity with how the Entosis Link operates. We still barely know how the Tyrannos managed to shut down Friday's Scope broadcast, after all.

The Observatories are automated. They are obviously not crewed. But the notes seem to be from a present entity. Most likely Jovian AI stationed in observatories.

The Directorate is either dead or so far into seclusion as to make no difference.

In other news, pilot Avio Yaken has volunteered to assist by investigating the locations mentioned in several of the log fragments in case we've missed some detail, or there are other sites or objects that may be susceptible to Entosis Link intervention. Hopefully he'll be able to provide us with more momentarily.

Just as a quick word to those interested in exploring the capabilities of the Entosis link whilst in the more dangerous areas of space, I have a few notes on its operation:

Firstly, it appears to interfere with both one's warp drive and cloak whilst in operation, which will leave your ship vulnerable whilst it is in operation.
Secondly, it doesn't appear to have a blasted off switch, and will continue operating until it reaches an appropriate break-point after a full "cycle" of operation.
Thirdly, even if you exceed its ostensible maximum range it will continue to function, which raises some questions about its ACTUAL maximum range but has the practical upshot of keeping you in the vicinity of whatever gave you a desire to run away until it's finished.

Ejecting looks like the only practical means to cut this short, assuming you don't mind sacrificing anyone you leave on board to the depredations of pirates/Drifters/etc.

You can't offline the module?

I had some engineers pull the plug on the thing and it happily kept running. I can't say I'm a ship systems designer, but presumably it's self-powering after the initial activation. Capacitors and such.

Now imagine discovering this whilst a Drifter battleship is bearing down on you.

Many pairs of underpants died to bring you this information.

Pilots;

Avio Yaken has assisted me by exploring a large number of the specific locations mentioned in the Jove Observatory logs. Following visits to Hahyil, Old Man Star, Rethan, Magiko, Skarkon, and Avaulon, he reported no unusual sightings or Entosis-responsive structures, save the exception of a Jove Observatory present over the planet Evaulon VII.

What's notable about this is confirms that the Jove Observatories are, in many cases, witnessing events over interstellar distances with high fidelity, in real time. Without speaking on other matters, this certainly confirms the belief that the Jove intelligence network was phenomenally capable.

Again, my thanks to pilot Yaken for visiting these sites on what has been a rather busy day.

I can confirm that neither the Perimeter gate nor the Children of Light beacon in Iyen-Oursta are susceptible to entosis effects.

Is there an Observatory in the Seylinn System?

I would suggest trying the E-link on just about anything you can find in Thera - wrecked stations, intact stations, the remains of the Lakat-Hro caravan, and anything else around those beacons in there.

I have begun cross-referencing the historical items in the gleaned information gathered by Makoto Priano. That compilation of data is here.

(( OOC NOTE/WARNING: Some items may have OOC knowledge, please attempt to use good judgment. If it's a News link, it's IC info. If it's a devblog, Chronicle, book, etc. then probably not (and from your character's perspective, should be considered "low confidence" at best, maybe blank). If it's speculative with no link, treat as OOC ))

ONS. Research teams have returned from the field.

We recovered 10 individual data sheets from the two posts we surveyed.
