EVE is becoming shallow and puerile; it will satisfy neither the veteran nor the "WoW" type crowd in the transition.

Maybe I'm worrying over nothing, but doesn't the Red Cross have that symbol copyrighted? I know Johnson & Johnson licenses it for their first aid kits. For a company that chose such a convoluted way to bring player designed alliance logos back, this seems odd.

Change is hard. I learned that early on but sometimes I tend to forget this fact. About a year or so ago I had a friend named George. We used to watch over the yard to make sure the squirrels were not gettin into the bird feeders. You see when a squirrel gets into a bird feeder they tend to eat everythin they can and then they just knock all the seed out of the feeders! Seed ain't cheep either. We chip in and buy a bag once a month. If squirrels get into it they waste it all very quickly. About a year or so ago I had a friend named James. We used to watch over the yard to make sure the squirrels didnt make their way into the bird feeders. It was an important job but now we have new feeders that are squirrel proof.

Anyways, my Grandson Norman will be here in a little bit. He's a good kid.

I like the new one.

On it's own I think it looks good.

My only complaint now is that it doesn't match the style of any other modules, and kinda stands out in an odd way.

But I still +1 it.

Damage control?...tools, heck, perhaps duct tape as symbol

red cross.....more for triage, first aid on living organisms

However, CCP has some type of weird Icelandic/EU way of looking at things.

To buck the popular trend, I began to Rage Start instead of Rage Quit.

...and every time I get another piece of Carbon, I know exactly what CCP is getting this Christmas.

An icon change is nothing. It's when they start moving things around when it becomes a pain...like when they moved the undock button. I found myself clicking the bottom left for a couple of months before I got used to it. Lol

If I had a nickel for every time someone said women don't play eve, I'd have a bag of nickels to whack the next person who said it..

Took me about 5 seconds to get used to the new one, though I am not the quickest witted. I'm ok with it.

:// inserting heavy sarcasm//: Let's spend a lot more time and energy battering CCP with complaints about a icon change, I'm sure there cannot be anything more important in this game that needs attention. :// end of sarcastic rant//:

I don't think people realize how lucky we are as players of this game , we really actually have a say in what is good and bad. Please stop ruining it with stupid things like this petition.

Its not differentiated enough iconically in order to find it quickly. The briefcase must return. If not, it must have a suitable decent icon. This blue thing with a red cross looks like a placeholder rather than a finished product.

People talk about how eve is better than WoW. I still get one shotted undocking in a frigate if there's a WT thrasher outside. It looks eerily similar to getting one shotted in WoW battlegrounds by a x9 level player when you're x1-4 levels.

agree with neocom being rubbish, that colourless, lifeless column of buttons is boring and must be replaced immediately.

THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE OLD UI.

I have yet to see a better description than "placeholder". I completely agree with that Lol

PLACEHOLDER ICONS BEGONE!

next thing you know, they come for the rifter... and I remember the hate when I suggested to remodel the rifter Lol

I support this thread.
If you're going to change the damage control icon to this monstrosity get rid of the medical plus sign.
It made sense on the old one as it was a tiny medical box.

We're lucky? We're customers who pay for a product. This isn't a charity. Customers always have a say in anything. Dollars are votes. Money talks. Etc. Why do you think monocle gate scared them? I just want to make sure that we understand that luck doesn't really factor here. If it were EA, shoving a game out, with changes people didn't like, wouldn't ruin them. They can just jettison that game and leave it for the vultures. Eve is different. The company needs to do right by its customers so it doesn't financially ruin them.

Briefcase or not - that's not important. What's important is the new icon clashes with every single other item icon currently in game.

Either roll out the new icon style for majority of the items, or don't touch them.

FC I'm being visually triggered. Send help.

You are wrong and here is why:

By rolling out a bunch of new designed icons at once causes a lot of confusion and requires time for players to adapt to them all at once. Factor in split second decision making that is necessary in EVE's combat (outside of 10% TiDi) and you have unhealthy chaos. Instead of the player losing their internet spaceship to a properly setup gank with neutral logi and Falcon support - they now lose it due to fighting the new UI icons.

Sure introduce more than one at a time, but do this in small doses that allow the players time to adapt without massively disturbing how they interact with the game.

Guns are F1-F8.
Damage control is alt+F1, MWD or AB is alt+F2, etc.

If you're fighting the UI because of appearance changes, you should really learn to use hotkeys. Its much faster and easier to hit a key sequence that always correlates to the type of module you want to activate than to rely on mouse clicking in space.

We are lucky to have as much say as we do, not many products give the consumers the amount of leg room that CCP does. Yes this isn't a charity but you wouldn't complain about a logo change on a chocolate if the chocolate had a cockroach in it.

Think of CCP as a teenager that's trying to find its place in the world.
And we are the parents.

I liked the old one because it looks like an actual first aid kit.

I understand that a lot of Eve players are kinda shut-ins that never do anything that would require a plaster or disinfectant and didn't understand that, though. My main objection to the change is less that the old icon was great as that the new icon is meaningless gibberish that doesn't match the aesthetic of any of the other module icons.

I mean:

Active armor resist module: detailed drawing of a golden cloak, subtly shaded to reflect the resist type
EANM: same cloak/poncho, but bright silver with a fancy glow effect to show it's energized
Shield resist modules: 3d drawings of kite shields complete with emblazoned symbols reflecting resist type
Turrets: actual detailed drawing of a mechanically plausible turret

Damage control unit: ... undetailed cartoon plus sign. What?

I can't be the only one that feels like there's a huge clash in the visual design there.
