It was indeed a response to your notion of "conscious speaking".

You generalized that people were echoing call-and-response patterns as social signals for conformity (my inference). I was disagreeing with the generalization, inclusive of the notion that most responses in on-line forums are quick or instant.

While it is true that some may be precisely that, I don't believe that all of them are, nor even most.

I first provided a counter-example of face-to-face oral speech, then analyzed your idea of instantaniety. I then summed up part of what I was saying in Doge (which was not at all directed at your comments, for the record) and addressed the sample quality with Sturgeon's Law. So, If I've misconstrued your notion of "conscious speaking" and substituted a straw-man in its place, please correct the notion.
