CSM has always been a game-breaking joke. It's simply used as an avenue to gain insight on upcoming changes so alliance leaders can prepare their alliances ahead of time, getting a leg-up on everyone else. The CSM doesn't care about the health of the game, and that's not just the most current iteration, but every iteration. It's an intel-gathering tool, nothing more.

The CSM has never improved EVE, only the playerbase rising up and rioting/unsubbing was able to accomplish that.

The OP's overbearing post is pointless, there is no way to "improve" The CSM, other than simply getting rid of the entire process and ditching the lame PR stunt. Has nothing to do with null- or high- sec dwellers at all.

Actually OP said a good thing: making this vote system on a login screen.

IMO the best way to do this is to remove CSM at all and make a poll system insted of voting for useless people.
So one day you login and see a thing like:

Q: What kind of new ships do you want at the upcoming expansion?
[ ] - PvE
[ ] - PvP
[ ] - Give me both!
[ ] - I live in null, me wants crush carebears

And so on. CSM system is just useless as it is.
Those polls will be the best thing to do. At least it will be more useful.

So CCP should ask the players their opinion on NDA'd changes?

Good thinking there.

It's better then listening to minority.

It's more like knowing the general opinion, knowing where to go and what to do.
Last patch for me was: new nebulaes and a new golem model.

So far CCP's most serious attempt at this is by filing the annual survey on why you play, where do you play, what do you think of EVE, et cetera. As the CSM, probably most players don't even care of it. And likely CCP only uses it for statistic purposes rather than informed development.

Certainly EVE's development doesn't reflects what the survey tells. The single largest minority are hisec mission runners. The largest population dwells in hisec.

This is why EVE's developers are overly concerned with nullsec being disfunctional, no CSM member is part of any of the above majorities and CCP's latest statements are on how they will give and give and give to lowsec. Roll

Roses are red / Violets are blue / I am an Alpha / And so it's you

Two quotes for you:

1: Wise man on political structures:
Quote:
General opinion is limited to the knowledge and world view of those of whom you seek your opinions from. If state wide polling were to replace the election of officials, the state needs to be prepared to either forcibly invest in public education or expect the future to be dominated by the lowest common denominator. An election forces the pundits who are interested, in validating and justifying the positions they hold on major issues - that process is useful for the propagation of knowledge.

2: Facts which demonstrate the dangers of general opinion:
Quote:
U.S. Geographic Illiteracy Statistics
U.S. Participants Ages 18 to 24 (2002)

U.S. Statistic Highlights
89% of American could locate the United States on a map whereas 95% of the French could locate the United States. It's embarrassing that roughly 1 in 10 Americans could NOT find their own country on a map.

* 49% of Americans could not find New York State on a map
* 51% could not locate Pennsylvania
* 69% could not find Massachusetts

World Statistic Highlights

* 30% could not locate the Pacific Ocean
* 56% could not locate India
* 63% of Americans could not find England on a map.
* 93% of Swedes could find the United States.
* Only 16% of Americans could find Sweden
* It's embarrassing to note that 85% of Americans, before the War with Iraq, could not locate Iraq on a map.
* Ironically, 34% of Americans knew the small island in the South Pacific where the one of the "Survivor" shows was filmed.

Out of nine countries tested, the U.S. came in eighth place. Here are the countries in order of their performance (best to worst):

1. Sweden
2. Germany
3. Italy
4. France
5. Japan
6. Great Britain
7. Canada
8. United States
9. Mexico

Yeah, I see what you mean.

But there is good thing about it - population of this game is not the only people from the US :D
So there is a high chance people might know what they want.

Its not hard to know what you want "in game". Its kind of obvious pattern. I want to make my game better.

Question is...

Do we know what is better for the game ?

It would be fun if CCP put the option of "None of the Above" for the next CSM elections.

I have to admit I am curious to see how many votes that would get Big smile

I doubt it would ever happen as I would imagine the CSM being vehemently opposed to this option. Just imagine if the "None of the Above" received the most votes lol.

I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but "hybrid rebalancing, supercapital balancing, time dilation" sounds to me like "nothing happend".
For a carebear like me those changes didn't help at all.
