I am newish to this game ( been playing just over a month) and I was just wondering how this setup rates for doing lvl 2 security missions? I have found the drones quite useful for distracting enemys too seems to be a good ship, and the Vexor seems to have alot of slots and plenty of power available to load them! This is my first cruiser so I am still learning all the setups!

It is decent and will probably work fine, here are some thoughts:
Why only 2 hammerheads? probably want 10 hammerheads and 5 hobs.
Using the Meta 4 shield extenders might open up enough CPU to use another drone damage amp instead of the tracking enhancer as well as provide more HPs. Also, use the Limited Adaptive Invulnerability Field I, it uses less cap and CPU.
You shouldn't need the cap rig and the effective shield recharge from using three extenders is actually more than the fit you posted so the extra buffer would be the preferred setup imo.

Yes Samwise very good, Shield Vexor is used for ganking. What does that have to do with this thread?

Thanks for your feedback :) Yeah I only had 2 Hammers at the time when I posted this because I had just finished a mission where a few had been killed, mind you I took out 12 elites and one boss at the same time. I noticed I can only launch 5 drones at a time, is this a game restriction to stop people spamming the world with 20 drones or is it a skill deficiency on my part? Yeah I was wondering about power usage, it isn't quite stable so I was looking for alternatives! Although I have found that I don't have to do too much fighting as the drones distract the enemy while I pound them from 40ks away!

Nah, something like this is more optimized for level 2 mission running, I was just trying to use the skills OP has available based off his original fit.

They are somewhat similar if you are talking about gate ganking, a proper gate gank fit looks like this:

[Vexor, Gate Gank]
Damage Control II
Drone Damage Amplifier II
Drone Damage Amplifier II
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II

Belt ganking or anywhere else you can control the engagement range and avoid gate/station guns for the gank would use blasters, heavy drones and no tank.

Yes it is a game restriction, all sub cap ships can only use a max of 5 drones.

well there is one subcap I can think of that can launch 10 drones, if you find one for under the price of one year of a typical mortgage let me know :p

and for the most part missions (well pve in general) is more about gank than tank. Fit for as much damage as possible and as long as you survive the engagement it is working. a few LSE and a hardener is plenty of tank for lv2s. The faster you complete sites the more isk you make! Most PVE fits have as many damage and application mods as they can squeeze on and as little tank as they can fit. tank is a secondary thought as dead npcs do no damage. Shields are cool as the bigger your buffer the longer it takes before you get into danger, and also the more shield HP you throw on there the higher your passive HP regen is.

and as Loyd pointed out sentry drones are pretty damn useful. I don't know that I would push for them for lv2 missions, but for lv3s they get pretty useful, and by the time you get to lv4s you should have them for sure. the Navy versions have very similar stats (in some cases better) than tech 2. and with sentries you should be sitting very close so if they do get into trouble you can scoop them and save them from death, and thus the little premium in price they have should quickly pay for itself and also when you are done with them you can sell them off to the next dude.

Nice.. I've started with a similar fit on my first ratting Vexor albeit with meta 4s. May I suggest a armor-tanked counterpart:)

Switch to meta4, if You do not have the skills (I'm still way of with T1 Drones:/). Switch the hardeners accordingly.

Tested on 4/10 DED complexes.. no problems.
Keep an extra eye on Your drones.. always try to keep the aggro on Your ship.

Decrypting the Sleeper cache..

Tha'ts good news about the Drones, I was about to go hunting through my skills figuring out what needed training lol You only really need 5 for level 2 missions anyhow, they seem to distract the enemy enough that they never seem to get a sight on you long enough to even remove your shields let alone get into your Armor. I took a few Heavy Drones off some Medium sized ships I blew up and they seem to work quite well too, and seem to deal more damage.

Love some of your builds posted here I might have to tinker around abit :) (Got days because I am getting my mining skills up so I can buy something like a Retriever to do some more serious mining). So far I have done 6 or 7 level 2 missions and no matter how nasty the enemy, they haven't got through my shields yet which is reasurring. - For now!

Thanks!

PvP fits are quite different from PvE fits. If you like the rails then you will want to kite. That means a MWD and a long point. I like to brawl with my vexors. AB, scram, web, dual rep, and blasters.

This one is really fun too. Its the sort of "did I just pee a little?" fun. The tank is not great but good enough to surprise the crap out of someone. The massive damage that it pushes is also surprising. Heat all the things and kill what ever is closest.

Good luck m8. See you in the belts
