Where should I be after a week of playing?

The absolutely biggest noobmistake is the belief
that you have to "get ready".

There are people waiting years and they still say it.

You can not even tell when you are ready.

All you need to do to be ready is start doing it.

Remember ... it's a game.
You will lose inevitably.

That ringing in your ears you're experiencing right now is the last gasping breathe of a dying inner ear as it got thoroughly PULVERISED by the point roaring over your head at supersonic speeds. - Tippia

The thing about "I'll wait until.I'm ready." Is that pvp is a thing that finds you even if you aren't looking for it. I commonly hear the "I'm not ready for pvp yet" line on the TeamSpeak server belonging to the corp my spy alt is in as I scroll down to the declare war button.

No amount of mining or running missions will make you ready for pvp.

The biggest ship I have right now is a destroyer that I'm starting to fit with weapons and defenses at the moment. Since I just started playing in the last week on trial, I want to get a handle on all of EVE's mechanics first.

NOTE: I've already lost an Incursus once. It was a group of pirates packing a lot of heat and a few powerful ships, so I know what it's like to lose a ship already.

Your portrait reminds me of the guy from Courage the Cowardly Dog.

Ships are expendable

Pods are expendable

Your time is what counts . . . will it be fun or boring you to tears.

Now I do know some folks enjoy the meditative aspects of mining, I am ok with that. But do not make Eve a job unless CCP has sent you a contract. You are, as Sole said, playing a game. a damn immersive one which can be a hobby bordering on obsession but a game.

Ready or not go out there and do things

Sol. Not Sole.
That's completely different.

Thanks.

Never intended it to be thus. I never watched the show, so I didn't know that character even existed.
