Yes, Amarr, but also Gallente, that being said the current meta favors kiting.

A lot of Gallente hulls can be fit for serious brawling w/ blasters, drones to add more DPS and respectable tank.

But Loyd is spot on...current meta is all about kiting. It can actually be hard to find targets who aren't kiting (or in a gang with at least 1:1 logi to dps mix *and* kiting!) in my neighbourhood these days :-(.

I hope I used the term correctly, I kinda just want to put my guard up, walk at the enemy and then punch them in the face until they're dead.

from what I understand this is the specialty of the amarr?

If your looking for gallente blaster boats then the following are your best T1 choice (IMO):

Frigate: Incursus
Destroyer: Catalyst
Cruiser: Thorax
Battlecruiser: Brutix
Battleship: Megathrom

If you are new id stick with the Incursus and cata and them move on to the thorax once you have better skills. Also train for tech 2 guns, its worth it.

every race has some kind of brawly ship, several in fact.

Yes, but nothing says love quite like the come-hither' bear hug of a blaster Proteus w/ true sansha scram. Deimos if you don't want to risk SP loss. Kronos if you want to go full re!ard.

the gallanteans offers the best brawlers, but all races can be fitted for brawl. atron, incursus, neuter tristan... when you have lvl5 gal frigs, comet will be your love for brawl, or even for kiting. or navy slicer with amar frigs on lvl5. stay with the t1 frigs until that. frigs, cruisers, t3 destroyers are really fun to fly :)

The thing about meta-games is that it means you know what your enemies are generally going to try to do. If you're reasonably tactically competent, that generally means you'll win.

Something as simple as letting someone kite your overtanked bait ship, waiting for them to be on a line with where your fleet is, and having your buddies warp in at 50 (or whatever their kite range is) can ruin a kiter's day, as can a single webber drone that will die in seconds... which won't matter since that's also how long you need to close the gap.

If you want to have a brawl with another brawling ship... yeah, you're gonna have to set up official duels or something. But if you are prepared to go punch a sniper in the nose, flying the ship type isn't necessarily going to screw you over completely. Even a brawl-fit Atron still fits an MWD, for instance, it won't necessarily be the Flash but that's plenty of speed to exploit tactical advantages.

(NOTE: Above is obviously not fool-proof, and any time you start PvPing with a new build you should be prepared to lose a lot more than win initially.)

Very true words. I have taken out a Garmur with an Atron, and beat an Orthrus in a Thorax (it's a beautiful parallel - just need a Barghest kill with a Mega to complete the set Big smile). Just because others are kiting doesn't mean you have to. You just need to understand how it works and be ready to exploit their mistakes.
