I was D-scanning like mad, following all the rules, wasting most of my time scouting out several wormholes before even trying to harvest in one.I just don't want to waste another day throwing money at getting blown up again without any return. It's difficult for me to raise 10m just to refit something; it takes me hours.

I feel like I've been duped. Straight I am filled with rage.

Honestly, though. You're playing the game for fun, right? Its not all about isk, its about fun. Is it fun to explore, dodge pirates, and maybe make some isk at the end? I feel yes, so I dont afk mine in a hi-sec retriever. And if you lose stuff, just hike up the prices of your goods on market to cover the losses.

Don't kid yourselves. Even the dirtiest pirates from the birth of EVE have been carebears. They use alts to bring them goods at cheap prices and safely, rather than live with consequences of their in game actions on their main, from concord to prices

The choice is obvious.

I spent something like 8 hours yesterday roaming the depths of null-sec, finding a wormhole (I'm terrible at scanning, apparently), finding gas within that wormhole; then getting locked in, roaming chains of wormholes connecting to other wormholes with a 20-mil. cargo until I found one that miraculously popped out in High Sec, kind of close to where I wanted to go to sell. It was a huge endeavor; I ran from a lot of people and a lot of sleepers.

If I just stayed steady in a Retriever, I probably would have made more than twice that amount.

But I'd gas harvest over piloting a Retriever any day of the week, ever.

(I also found a new home deep in Null-Sec. I'll have to slowly move my other **** over.)

so you jumped into an end of life wormhole and sucked gas for 20 minutes expecting it to still be up when you got back.

Why do you need to run from sleepers if you're not doing any sites?

Like a lot of what you're writing makes no sense.

Some gas sites had spawns there already, and to get a full cargo of gas requires more than one site (thus: more than one encounter with sleepers). I wasn't complaining, I was having a lot of fun.

I feel like you're trying hard to criticize me (for... some reason?) and doing a very bad job at it.

I agree with you. There's many people who are infected with the GD disease.
It's a contageous mental disease which befalls you after having continous,
daily contact with General Discussions.

It makes you stop thinking ...
... and just reacting to what is written.

Most people who suffer from the GD disease are easily spottable
by looking for the main symptom: Hate.

It can express itself in various forms, including hypocrisy,
direct attacks and passive aggressiveness.

You have been warned.

Sounds like you're looking for instant gratification kind of ISK making. Mining is right up your alley, then. Gas mining requires patience, like I stated before. You can't just find a WH, pop in and expect to make 50m an hour huffing. You MUST do research of the wormhole, you MUST bookmark it and you MUST be willing to wait a while before making your money.

Going into an unscouted WH, flying to the first gas site you scan down is a surefire way to get blapped. Likely by Sleepers!

New Eden isn't nice. It isn't friendly. It isn't very hospitiable. Good thing there are people here to shoot in the face.

Want to make New Eden a nice place? Try this out.

My process has been this:

Enter wormhole, mini-warpdrive far away. D-scan to make sure no other player ships are there, then probe-scan and bookmark everything appropriately.

I've been deleting all my bookmarks for a particular wormhole when it goes away (when I get locked out of it or something). Is this a smart thing to do? Or is there some way to re-visit the same wormhole?

Scout scout scout. Who is in the WH, what does the killboard look like, what TZ do they operate on? How many members are they... etc. These give you a good idea of the relative activity in a WH. Lots of sigs also indicate a lack of activity.

Scout the WH, scan down all sigs to the point of identifying them. Scan down and scout all WH connections.

Thing about WH space is you die. But you typically make more isk than ship loses. A venture is hard to catch without a Saber or something. To the point where i don't bother unless i have bubbles.

On a low SP toon (about 2M) i gas minnied fine in low and null no probs, and then move to WHs. Had to run away a few times, but mostly been fine.

AKA the scientist.

Death and Glory!

Well fun is also good.

Go to Thera. We have tons of Wormhole connectons a day. Go 1-2 jumps into anhy and you'll get to gas mine with a station (Thera) nearby.

Keep at it. When I was new I joined a high sec mining corp. Soon I found myself bored and was always wandering off into low and null sec for more interesting space rocks. My corp members would be online making steady isk while i was out having fun in unsafe space. I made about the same amount of isk/hour as they did but I had a hell of a lot more fun. When you fly back home it feels like you actually did something. Unlike high sec mining where you mine while cleaning the house or watching a movie.
