AURum needs to be removed from the game.
God forbid a company tries to make extra money. And from something that does not affect gameplay at that.

Funnily enough, back in 2012 people were vehemently opposing everything that went into that direction. Even now, people go ballistic when you mention an expansion on the CQ aspect, yet it's the only area in the game where you can actually experience your fancy clothes. They are also investing considerable efforts into expanding the store and the items and everyone is OK with it all of a sudden, while the game still has so many deficiencies and ares which are in dire need of improvement.
God Guard forbid indeed that they make extra money with items that do not impact the game play. I already pay them subscriptions for several accounts and still I have to pay them even more money (buying that stuff for ISK is still giving them more money in addition to my subscription as someone had to invest AUR) to get access to these items. Instead, they should invest the efforts into making the game better, into providing compelling content to enrich the sandbox and make people want to undock to experience these activities, into activities that are not shallow or "not affecting gameplay". That would make more people want to play the game and pay subscriptions for the game. EVE's subscription income is doing well enough to support any activity CCP and it should be their aim to strengthen that instead of going the way of other publishers with their regularly outrage and dissent creating DLCs, shops, extra payments and so on.

Meh, and now I wrote more on the matter than I actually wanted. Congratulations. ┬─┬ノ( º _ ºノ) (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻

My ridicule, heavy criticism and general pale outlook about your or CCP's ideas is nothing but an encouragement to prove me wrong. Give it a try.

'Consumable' may have been an unfortunate choice of words, given EVE's attitude towards item destruction. I'm pretty sure what OP is suggesting is that vanity items become bind-on-equip, not that they be lost if you get podded.

No-one would ever have to buy a replacement for an item they'd bought*, but they wouldn't be able to sell it on if they got tired of it, either.

*Assuming they never get struck by a sudden brainstorm and unplug the golden pod implant, or something along those lines...

If this is what the OP intended then I support it.

Would have an added bonus of not having to fly to Jita (or wherever your armoire happens to be located) just to change your clothes.

CCP approaches problems in one of two ways: nudge or cludge

I stated in the OP, vanity items would maintain their ISK value on market, rather than crashing into the ground.

In your idea yes.

In reality, the market value of goods (consumable or otherwise) are controlled by players... players who are subject to supply and demand market forces which in Eve Online is driven by destruction.....

If I have to pay $ to get a vanity item that adds no in game value aside from being cosmetic... and would then be forced to determine its market value based on its ability to be destroyed / consumed / non-transferable, then i'd force the value of such items (assuming people would be willing to pay for it) upwards....

If people don't want to buy something they cant use on other alts... then the perceived market value would get wiped out over night....

Which makes me question why your posting this....

Eve is about Capital ships, WiS, Boobs, PI and Isk!

I was just thinking about the wardrobe in space thing. It seems like the server remembers your last pose, and it's just the camera distance that gets reset when you go to take another snapshot.

I'm wondering how difficult it would be to allow wardrobe switching in space. You know, have the portrait generator server take your current avatar, swap a clothing item, and repeat the shot and render it.

Along with making vanity item consumption irreversible, this would fix the huge flaw of vanity items hitting rock bottom prices permanently.

It would translate into more AUR sales, so there's that justification as well... and not just the player economy.

skins used to be destructible (well, technically they still are....) because they're currently different varieties of ship...... with the only difference being the colouring...
CCP are DELIBERATELY MOVING AWAY from this model
I don't know if you can undress an item once you've clothed a character in it, but I imagine you can't, which is the closest you're gong to get to destructible clothing....
if you want vanity items to spice yourself up - by AUR
if you want to sell RL money for isk - use PLEX, game time is VERY consumeable, and people will pay through the nose for another 28d

For posting an idea into F&I: come up with idea, try and think how people could abuse this, try to fix your idea - loop the process until you can't see how it could be abused, then post to the forums to let us figure out how to abuse it..... If your idea can be abused, it WILL be.

BOE I'd be on board with, under the proviso of the afore mentioned thing that the clothing UI needs a massive update to allow easier selection of clothes for this.

You can take a clothing item off your body and put it straight back on market, without so much as a dry cleaning bill.
