Open or closed lore community?

So, I like writing. And I like coming up with lore about things. But I'd like to know, how does the community/CCP see writing about the lore of a part of Eve when there was no/not much lore there before?

I ask, because I want to write a backstory for a system. Specifically, a planet. Specifically, Asakai III, the home planet of my character and the only temperate planet in the system. Since it's rather minor, does the community particularly care if I take the liberty to describe it myself?

Also, if anyone is interested in it, I'm more than willing to discuss my ideas.

Well, when it comes to world-building stuff, I try to write things out with two things in mind:

  • CCP can, at any time, tell me I'm wrong.
  • No one is required to observe or acknowledge the world-building I am attempting.

Beyond that, it's all gravy. FWIW, I'm pretty sure there are several long-standing and well-written planetary histories thanks to the community, though other than Origin by Saede Riordan I cannot call any to mind.

So, personally, I'd say go for it.

Basicly what Nissui said, I try to follow the same guidelines when writing stuff. I've invented some minmatar/vherokior words, but just in case CCP decides to develop them I've claimed they are words from a dialect or archaic terms for example, not the formal language.

I would say the lore community is quite open, but do not be offended if people at large or CCP chooses to ignore your contribution. Generally people are quite accepting though and CCP I think leaves a lot of things deliberately open.

As the others said, as long as you keep yourself open to CCP releasing something that contradicts you it should be fine. Keeping backstory to specific continents, dialects, and other specialized areas will help prevent that. It can also lead to interesting moments if you run across others that wanted to work within the same planet; you could then collaborate with them.
