You are telling me people hack into accounts (how exactly?)
and then use these for botting?

That makes no sense. To "hack" into accounts one needs
account and pwd. So either tricking the player into logging in somewhere
else than the secure site, a keylogger, or logging in at a "friends" (with keylogger).

In any way, running bots on a hacked account is nonsense,
because people tend to notice this rather fast. It's more sensible to
ASAP take all assets and trying to sell them on ebay.

Botting is a long term thing.

List of newly added skills, sorted by date.

If you just logged-in, many skills can be removed, renamed, or the skill points refunded or transferred, depending on how long you've been away.

Example: Combat Drone Operation was removed, and became Light Drone Operation AND Medium Drone Operation.

Seriously?

I thought it was common knowledge that most accounts being hacked were used for monetary purposes, which in a game translates to bot farmers.

I'm way too stoned to bother doing the research, but help yourself.

Assuming hacked accounts are used for botting means
you assume the owners would not notice,
which does not fit in any way or form.

Owners are at fault if someone gains their account and pwd,
which means they are still actively playing.
There is no way of "hacking" an account.

And that means the smart thing to do is,
as the thief,
grabbing as many assets as possible and trying to sell them on ebay ASAP.
