The Apocalypse was once the most iconic ship in the EVE universe, there was something about it since the games release which I just loved.

Here's some screenshots of the old one:

Is there any way we can get an option to have the model type we prefer? I'm prepared to pay a PLEX to permanently revert back to the old model.

This thread again?

No it's not possible, and CCP is not going to make it possible.

Probably for the better, IMO. The new Apoc is way nicer than the old one.

He will win who knows when to fight and when not to fight.

He will win who, prepared himself, waits to take the enemy unprepared.

I'm sure it's possible, I don't believe for one second it's impossible.

Which one is better is a matter of opinion, so I wont argue with you about that.

I don't really see a huge difference between them anyway Roll

Change is good, embrace it and rejoice.

with the SKIN system and the download on demand I suppose I could see it happening, but then it is more art work, and I'm not sure they want to do that.

I watched a few old videos recently and I wonder how much I'm just nostalgic for old ships, vs how much I actually would like them side by side if I had the choice. my memory/imagination seem to team up and fill in a lot more detail then what was actually there.

My point was that CCP has never implemented, or publicly considered, a system where it is possible to revert back to old ship models. Thus it is impossible for all intents and purposes.

Of course it's not "impossible." All it needs is some code. So maybe if you take the Devs out to supper and give them all handy J's maybe they'll make it possible, just for you, so you can keep feeling special in your special Apoc.

Then again, that raises the question of "CCP, you made it possible to revert back to old ship models, why not extend this feature to other areas of the game like the UI, Star Map, blah blah blah." I'm pretty sure that the general consensus towards the updated UI and ship models of recent patches is overwhelmingly positive. Therefore this would be a make-work project just to satisfy the wishes of a few special snowflakes like yourself.

So no, it's not possible and I would bet my ability to father children on the fact that CCP doesn't want it to become possible.

This was my line of thinking too, things are becoming more customizable these days, I think if enough people want it they might do it. I'll stay positive.

If it isn't impossible to consider it is at least vanishingly unlikely.

CCP have already tried it after all; years ago, with the advent of Shader Model 3 (IIRC), they ran the 'delux' and the 'classic' client in parallel for at least six months I think. They know the cost of trying to maintain old art assets in a changing game and they quickly determined that it was too high.

Even were you to commit to cover all of the employment costs of a dedicated old-Apoc artist I doubt CCP would be willing to risk such an experiment again.

New one is sooooo much better. Would be kind of cool if there were old legacy ships still left around every time there was a remodel but eventually I imagine they would become rare just like those rare unique hulls that people are afraid to undock in because for fear of getting ganked.

Actually I was thinking that the model type could be switched in the same way the new skins would be, as long as you've purchased the cosmetic (skin or model) it's yours, and can be changed on the fly.

We doesn't refer to everybody. It refers to those who are like minded. Isn't that obvious?

I love the black and cream navy issue Amarr ships. Only military fleet ships that don't have that horribly stupid looking camo. .

Just give me back my jet vindi with it's sleek neon green lights. The new shader has made the vindi look what appears to be a super light, gunmetal matte with it's iconic green lights being extremely feint. Aka it's horrendous.

The navy mega should not, under any circumstances, have any parts of it's texture darker than the vindi. Which is the case now.
