I personally think this is waaaaay too stupid idea - if it is real. The single-shard nature of EVE is at the core of what this game is (or rather was).

I was a newb once, the oldbros kicked my arse. Then I learned and got older... HTFU.Evil

If it's true, any actual vets will still stomp on all the newbies regardless of being on an even footing SP wise. I've become a bit of a CCP fanboy since starting, but if this real and not a prank, it goes into the "utterly moronic" category as far as ideas go.

It's not an April Fool's joke.

It's an average, everyday, run of the mill joke on The Global Cooldown, which is a fake news website for MMO's.

If true i may finally be able to break the eve habbit and go outside. Un sub the accounts and never look back.

What an incredibly dumb idea. Will there be a pvp flag as well, will this be the WoW server? Dont lose your ship on death, etc.

To be fair, the Onion is fairly known. I'd never heard of the site linked in the OP until today. I feel dumb for posting in this thread now. My initial points still stand though!

What's better is that you can come along after the fact and point out that the source is completely made up and people will still flip out over whatever it is.

Could be an April's Fools joke, but perhaps not...

Another MMO, which I won't exactly name ***cough*Rolf*cough*** has made a tidy profit from opening new servers, even when players of that MMO foretold great prophecies of doom if it did. For CCP releasing a new server would silence those who say EvE is unfriendly and unattractive to play due to the skill point gap, as well as bring in an influx of sales. After watching Players go completely ape stupid to join a new server in that other MMO I am confident CCP would do well if they made a new one here.

In my opinion I see the Big fish will still gobble up small fish and the new server will differ only in the details. A replay of many of the same dynamics and names we see on Tranquility, only with barges used for mining this time instead of Armageddons. It would be interesting to see how an EvE server would develop with the ships and Tech the game has now.... but it is the Players and not the Gear that determines a Servers' fate.
