I've had a lot of trouble with this mission. I've gotten it a couple of times, and it's gotten to the point that I just decline whenever I see it.

There are 3 destroyers, 4 frigates that spawn in, and 2 surprisingly hard-hitting transport ships. For some reason, I don't seem to be able to use links, so I cannot link the article.

Normally what I do is go for the destroyers. I kill one of them, the frigates spawn in, and I manage to get another destroyer before they melt my shields and I have to warp out. I warp back in, kill another destroyer and *maybe* a frigate. I have to warp out again. Depending on how lucky I am, I may be able to kill the rest of the frigates with my next warp, then stand off from the transports, repair, and kill them, or I may have to warp out again.

So my current tactic is kill the destroyers, kill the frigates, then kill the transports. I'm not sure why I get so much damage from this mission - it gives me a lot more trouble than Worlds Collide, and I don't think I face as many ships at once. Am I killing the ships in the wrong order, or what?

I'm flying a Thrasher fitted out like this:

High Slots:
7x 200mm Autocannon I
1x "Arbalest" Rocket Launcher

Medium Slots:
Small Shield Booster I
Invulnerability Field I
Cold-Gas I Arcjet Thrusters

Low Slots:
2x Gyrostabilizer I

I think my fit is okay though, doubt that it's the problem.

When I've done lvl 1's in destroyers I've always used long range guns, try to fit 250mm artilleries and use mid/long range ammo to snipe them down (Kinetic is the best damage type vs serpentis, Thermal second), but frigates have v.low resists so you don't have to pay too much attention to the weaknesses of the enemies until atleast lvl 2 missions

All right, thank you.

I'm wondering if I should be killing the ships in a different order than I currently am though?

I'd kill of the frigates first, it's easier to keep your range vs the destroyers rather than the frigates, after frigates are down focus on the destroyers

If the damage is too much for you to handle swap to your longest range ammo (Carbonized Lead) and shoot from your optimal range.

At your optimal range + half of your falloff your damage will stop dropping rapidly, so try to stay within this range if possible.

I'd say go for more buffer over the small shield booster. This is the Thrasher I use for such purposes:

[Thrasher, mishin]
Gyrostabilizer II
Tracking Enhancer II

Cold-Gas I Arcjet Thrusters
Medium Shield Extender II
Invulnerability Field II

200mm AutoCannon II, Phased Plasma S
200mm AutoCannon II, Phased Plasma S
200mm AutoCannon II, Phased Plasma S
200mm AutoCannon II, Phased Plasma S
200mm AutoCannon II, Phased Plasma S
200mm AutoCannon II, Phased Plasma S
200mm AutoCannon II, Phased Plasma S
[empty high slot]

Small Projectile Burst Aerator I
Small Projectile Collision Accelerator I
[empty rig slot]

Obviously the full T2 fit isn't needed, nor are the rigs (can put more buffer on there if you'd prefer). Get in close to the transports and orbit them while killing the small stuff. Seems to work for me.

And that way, you have a bit more buffer to work with before warping out (if it comes to that).
