Also don't see the value here. In my mind If anything the value would go DOWN since once someone purchases a skin they'll never have to buy it again.

a) no pilot will ever be able to resell their injected skin to the open market
b) CCP have implied that AUR prices for the littlest ships will be much much higher than now, since you are not buying merely a ship but a soulbound item
c) think again

1) all the current skins are consumables , which will become infite and will be more expensive , i doubt 1 dread run now will be equal to infinite dreads after .
2) And the most important thing , unique skins , ignore those in unlimited quantity for a second . If you checked the news about quafe ships (that they extend the offer) You know UNIQUE skins will be UNIQUE permanent skins . Megathron quafe edition its not for example 1000 unique ships , its 1000 unique permanent skins . So quafe ships , haulers from fanfest from last year . Those 4 haulers wiill never be sold in shop . (theyre value already increased by 400% )
3) Pirate skins , those made sense when there was offer and demand , with infinite offer , and 0 demand (you only need it once) i think it could or SHOULD change , duno if it will , but i hope so , otherwise in a month or two time they will be useless completly .

Personally I'm not too keen on most of the colour schemes for the current skins with the possible exception of the Quafe ones. But if you do like any of the skins for any of the ships I would suggest buying a one run of them and keeping them in storage. It makes sense that once the new system comes in that an infinite use skin will be more expensive than a one run current skin.

Regarding a comment made about haulers from previous Fanfests and other freebie ships such as the Nefantur Thrasher from the CE box etc I don't think they will be turned into infinite use SKINS. The changeover will only concern current ship skin BPCs. Regarding the Quafe Megathron from EVE Vegas wasn't that a ship and not a skin BPC ? If so that won't be turned into a new SKIN. Unless something was said at the Fanfest roundtables this year in addition to what CCP Seagull said initially then the above is factually correct.

Also I was wondering if owners of injected SKINS will be able to sell those ships on to other pilots who do not own the injected SKINS ? If not then there will be less possible revenue to be made from the new SKIN system. The revenue would then be made from selling rarer uninjected SKINS such as any Quafe ones and selling SKINS to people who do not want to buy Aurum. So after the initial flurry any revenue streams from SKINS would die down fairly quickly after an initial panic/storm.

99% sure that no, not going to happen. Ships will lose their skin when you leave ship probably.

CCP want to maximise their own revenue so I guess you will be correct there. I guess that means that if we ever get corp/alliance logos on ships that all members will have to individually purchase those SKINS as well.

I saw one of your post in another thread , but didnt want to bump it .
Thrasher from CE box , need to check the stats if they are the same then its a "skin" if theyre different , its a different ship , duno about that one .
As for other you mentioned its a SKIN , bpc or not in the original give away form its a SKIN . And it WILL be turned in infite skin . It was said before fanfest , on fanfest , and after .

http://pastebin.com/KuRLgyED

you cant sell skined ships , cos the ship is basic , only you can have it skined if you got it injected . Quafe skins will be more and more rare once ppl inject them , theyre pretty limited NOW , when theyre 1 ship only , imagine when ppl will start injecting the license .

so TLDR : haulers unique skins , quafe unique skins catalyst and megathron included , catalyst buddy invites unnique skins , Victory edition rattlesnake (confirmed by CCP) unique skin , in future even golden pod will be a skin , all of this will be more rare and unique and the price will reflect it . rorqual will be a permanent unique skin (its still cheap due to collector still being sold , once it stops it will become a limited supply also )

Golden Pod is already an infinite use SKIN once 'injected'.

Some very good points in this thread thanks to peoples due diligence. Definitely merits taking a look over all previous investments.
Something I have noted over the years is that CCP does a pretty good job of maintaining value & uniqueness if an item was originally distributed on this basis and having these qualities.
ie "Buy this version of the game and get a unique Intaki Syndicate Catalyst Destroyer"!
It's logical that they maintain a good reputation in this arena lest consumers lose faith that CCP will hold true to its word and be hesitant to make these purchases in the future ultimately hurting CCP's bottom line.

Historically CCP has also treated items given as a reward or trophy with the same respect.

So rethinking the idea there doesn't appear to be a lot of downside here aside from the fact that CCP will be taking an enjoyable aspect of the game(trading unique ships/skins) and for all practical purposes removing it from the game.

Trading skins after these changes go through will be akin to trading plex. = Boring and not very profitable.

you are tough arent you .... Thats not a question when they answered multiple times which i wrote here already ....

As announced at Fanfest, existing skinned ships you own will be turned into a basic ship and a permanent skin license once the new SKINs system is deployed. Similarly any blueprint copies for skinned ships such as the ones included in the offer will become permanent skin licenses.

The quafe skins being valuable is a no-brainer. They look awesome, they were expensive and only available for a limited time, and most people probably haven't yet stopped to pay attention to the SKIN system and realize a temporary item now (useless unless you're a collector since you'd never risk undocking it) will become a very practical luxury/prestige item in just a few weeks (you can show off your shiny while only risking the base hull).

The more interesting question are the aurum store skins. The current prices can't hold, since it would be absurdly inexpensive to get a lifetime use out of the skins (particularly for frigates). The only question is when and how CCP changes the pricing model.

If they just flip a switch one day, and increase the prices for the SKINs but make them permanent (while rewarding all current holders of the BPCs or ships with permanent skin licenses), that would buying skinned ships and BPCs now HUGELY profitable. If they announce a change like that in advance, people will gobble up skins and crash the price before the change goes live.

Of course they could leave prices the same (IMO unlikely) or else walk back on the promise to turn existing ships/BPCs into licenses.

Love,

~Coelomate
